Special Equestria Girls: Mirror Magic Aired:
July 8 2017
We find Juniper Montage with others at the mall as the Dance Magic song plays on the big screen but seeing the Mane Six everywhere she looks is not comfort to her at all. She takes out her frustration on a sign before being summoned back to her duties behind the counter, only she delays it with fake interference. Even so, she remains frustrated and finds herself at a product stand with a hand mirror and a disapproving seller when she puts on the sunglasses.
A stream of magic comes from above and lands inside the mirror, giving Juniper an entirely different look inside it. It's enough to spook her and she drops the mirror on the ground. Even just touching the magical glass freaks her out but she manages to regain her confidence and picks the mirror up again. This time, she finds the appearance fascinating enough to purchase the hand mirror for more than it was actually worth. Meanwhile, Sunset Shimmer has found herself at a quite area to write about her troubles.
Unfortunately, there's no more pages to write about and she's unable to finish her thoughts as Pinkie Pie arrives with a plate of burgers. The others arrive and realize there's more troubling Sunset Shimmer than she's leading on and with Pinkie Pie practically breathing down her neck, Sunset Shimmer explains her problem. However, Twilight has responded back with an invitation to Equestria. Elsewhere, Juniper is too focused on the mirror to attend to her duties and has to be convinced by her own boss to get started.
However, the task isn't what Juniper has in mind and really wants the popcorn to disappear. As if it heard her request, the popcorn is promptly taken away, leaving both the manager and Juniper shocked at how things have gone. Back outside, Sunset Shimmer gathers the courage to enter the portal and finds herself in a pile of books with Starlight Glimmer gazing back at her. Worse still, Sunset Shimmer doesn't have her previous knowledge of when she was a pony and struggles to do basic actions as they happen.
Twilight is unable to be there but Starlight gives Sunset Shimmer the journal as instructed and evnetually Sunset Shimmer starts to head off. However, Starlight Glimmer is too curious about the other world and wants to know more about it. Given the experience is proven to be difficult to explain, Starlight wonders if she can go in for herself and isn't sure Twilight wouldn't be okay with it, leaving Sunset Shimmer puzzled. Furthermore, Starlight doesn't feel she'll learn much just hanging around the castle (except you already have, Starlight) and assures she'll be fine once they're there.
After some consideration, Sunset Shimmer takes Starlight to the human world where Starlight finds it hard to walk just as Twilight did. While Starlight continues to adjust to her new body, Juniper continues testing out the mirror's actions as two customers wait for their bag of popcorn. Unfortunately, she only drives the customers away just before Pinkie Pie and the others arrive, spooking her in the process. However, Juniper doesn't share their excitement for the movie premiere given her new job.
Rainbow Dash only makes her angrier by reminding her of what happened at the movie set and it's enough for Juniper to send the group into the mirror, leaving Fluttershy's hair barette behind. At the mall, Sunset Shimmer and Starlight are discussing the matter at hand whereby no one is receving info regarding their wherabouts. With magic being different than in Equestria anything could be happening where the Mane Six are. Sunset Shimmer can't seem to tell whether she should be happy about the lack of activity or upset that there hasn't been any recent activity or threat.
Starlight suggests not focusing so much on what may happen and focusing on the good that already happens, which leads to Sunset Shimmer's next idea of searching at the movie theater.  Meanwhile, things are proving to be confusing for the Mane Six as they're in an endless blank space with nothing to look at or do. Not even Pinkie Pie can make sense of it until they see a portal and it becomes partially clear to Applejack what happened. However, they become pelted by chocolate-covered almonds, which only adds to the mystery until we see where it's coming from just as Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer arrive.
Juniper is unwilling to spill but Sunset Shimmer has no need for it and peers into Junuper's thoughts anyway, revealing other things that happened between the specials' events. Sunset Shimmer tries to reason with Juniper and only ends up being sucked into the mirror with the others. The group gathers around and only Fluttershy seems to notice what Sunset Shimmer's arrival into the mirror has triggered, at least not until later. Unfortunately, their magic is pulled out of the mirror and causes Juniper to grow well beyond  her normal size and take on a new appearance to boot, deciding to try it out elsewhere.
Starlight Glimmer follows and decides to take action after a poor little boy is scared of the beast Juniper has become. The struggle causes the mirror to fall to the ground and crack, causing cracks inside the mirror too, which leaves the gang on edge. Juniper wants Starlight to join the others inside the mirror but nothing happens, leading Starlight to believe that Juniper must possess the mirror to use its powers. However, as things continue to escalate outside and inside the mirror, Starlight finds she can't use it either but makes sure Juniper can't have it. Juniper manages to corner Starlight as the damage continues to mount inside, leaving Twilight to be rescued with a magical cocoon.
Starlight suggests being friends but Juniper isn't so easily swayed, convinced no one would be friends with her. However, Starlight has been in that same situation and knows the others will forgive her. All Juniper needs to do is set the others free, which she manages to do in the knick of time. Juniper deeply apologizes but the others have all been in the same situation and confess their bad deeds. It's time for them to go but Starlight doesn't want to leave as she hadn't really gotten to know them all just yet. Luckily, Sunset Shimmer gets a message back from Twilight that grants Starlight to stay for a few more days.
The group rejoice and Sunset Shimmer promises to let whatever happens happen and not worry so much about it.
