My Little Pony Tales Episode 24 Summary

Episode 24	Just for Kicks	Aired: December 11, 1992
At the (gym?) a few of the ponies are doing exercises with their instructor as Bon Bon says she's tired. Bright Eyes and Patch suggest it was the blueberry muffins Bon Bon had for breakfast and lunch respectively that are slowing her down. Clover ends up knocking down everyone in her row due to her clumsiness. The "waitress" if you will at the (second ice cream parlor?) hands everyone their (slushies?) and correctly remembers who gets what. Starlight asks for another since she's really thirsty. Ace comes in, asking Patch to go with him to the big game, which Patch loves. Melody comes in, apologizing for being late due to her band running overtime but Ace is clearly delighted to see her and swipes Starlight's second just-made slushy and offers it to Melody but when she declines to go work out, Ace drinks it for himself, then he and Patch exit. Sweetheart sparks a conversation to Starlight about her liking Ace, who likes Melody but not vice-versa. Uh-oh! At 1:44 into the episode, Ace finishes Starlight's "slushy" (left) and Sweetheart strikes the conversation with Starlight, but at 1:57 into the episode, Starlight's "slushy" is back to being nearly full! You can click on the left image to see a close-up shot of Ace with the slushy being empty.Bright Eyes says Ace seems to like himself more than anything. Starlight then sings a song about how she and Ace make a perfect pair. At the soccer (practice) game, their coach gives them pointers, then orders Ace to practice goal shooting and the rest to see himself. Ace scores the first goal as Starlight figures maybe Ace would notice her more if she was a soccer ball (though you'd have to take the abuse a soccer ball takes, Starlight). Ace then sees Melody and kicks the soccer ball into the air, right in a mud puddle in front of Starlight, who gets covered in it and laughed at by Ace. Starlight seeks advice from Ms Hackney, who tells Starlight to sign up for the soccer team to get closer to Ace so she does and makes some pretty decent shots (for a girl as Ace remarks). All Starlight needs to do is dribble around Ace and she's on the team but she ends up in the goal without the ball, then runs off upset. Patch tells Ace he stinks and kicks the soccer ball in Ace's face. Starlight, meanwhile sings about how perhaps she and Ace aren't the perfect pair after all. She finishes the song in time to see Patch running over, who tells that Starlight made the team after all and it was Ace who made Starlight nervous. At the game, one of the ponies injures herself and a timeout is called. Coach says Starlight now is in the game but Ace isn't happy about it, saying she's a novice. Regardless, Starlight scores the winning goal just in time. Ace walks away disgusted. Later, at the ICS, Ace shows up, saying that the kick was good, even though Starlight says it was lucky. Patch and Bon Bon leave them alone as Starlight and Ace discuss Starlight's technique.
