Episode 9 | The Play's the Thing |
Aired: August 28, 1992 |
At her house, Melody gloats on being
perfect for the part of being princess and recites a few lines for her twins'
delight. Her mother comes in, telling Melody to clean her room but Melody says
that princesses don't clean rooms they have assistants for that. At the
auditioning, Patch decides to jazz up the lines she was given, despite Ms
Hackney's words from Shakespony about their being only small actors not small
parts. (That doesn't even make sense since there ARE small parts in plays.) Ms Hackney announces that the play assignments will be posted tomorrow. The next day, an excited tales pony gang darts into the school, wondering who has what part. As Melody expects, she's the princess (and starts acting like a REAL one) while the others help with the play. Bon Bon can't see how anyone will believe she's a 75-year old woman and Starlight says it's the magic of theater and sings about it. Afterwards, Bon Bon gets her make-up done for the play and Melody drops in with a new hairdo and an obnoxious attitude where she gloats about being on PTV later. She then gets in an argument with Starlight about not allowing Clover to have the same hairdo she has. Clover changes her mind after becoming quite dizzy from being spun around in her chair. Starlight has an idea for teaching Melody a lesson and puts it right into action as Melody rehearses the play's story with Ace and Teddy in the audience. Ace wants to see Melody since she's so awesome (now if only Melody knew this earlier, she could've liked Ace more). Teddy finds the show to be the dumbest he's ever seen. Ace protests she'll do better but ends up laughing right along with Teddy after seeing Melody's bloopers rage on. Melody at this point has had enough and demands to know what's going on. Her former friends sarcastically ask about the props and music and the commotion attracts Ms Hackney, who demands to know what the commotion is all about. After explaining to Ms Hackney about Melody's obnoxious royalty, the rest walk away. Later at the Ice Cream Shop, the gang discuss whether or not to see Melody's interview on PTV but they choose to do so and find that Melody acknowledges that it takes everyone to make a play. That night the play goes smoothly and everyone in the crowd cheers and claps. |
