Episode 53  The Quest of the Princess Ponies (Part 3) Aired:
September 9, 1987
Inside the dungeon, Spike wonders if there's a secret tunnel leading to the dungeon but Gnash says there isn't, leaving them trapped where they are. However, the door opens and Sludge arrives and Spike attacks him, even though Sludge has come to help. However, the ponies don't buy it until Sludge notes that he'll suffer along with them if Lavan wins. Though Lava Demons and Iceborgs have been enemies, Gnash believes Sludge's word and Spike apologizes but the handshake proves too hot to handle.
Since Lava Demons and Iceborgs cannot physically shake hands, Spike offers to shake both their hands and gets in between them. With that, they look for a way out while Megan and Tiffany are still searching as dusk approaches. They still have a chance and go to see Mr. Moochick about it in spite of Tiffany being exhausted from all her flying. They arrive as a light rain shower is falling but find Mr. Moochick's magic is also gone haywire and head inside to explain their situation. Elsewhere, Lavan finishes his crystal transformation and is so happy he shares it with his guards before heading outside to sing a song about it.
Even his guards sing their part before the song is over. Back inside, the group is marching along when Spike decides to clean off one of the princess ponies' coat but they've realized more important matters exist than how they look. Regardless, they resume the argument over which of them should be queen while the Moochick gets the last of the story. However, sitting down to think about it proves dangerous as the chair nearly eats him alive until Megan helps save him. Nevertheless, the chair starts eating everything in sight with its new tentacles.
Mr. Moochick tries to stop the chair with his own magic but it only makes things worse so they bolt out the front door. Howver, Habbit wants to show Megan something but Megan doesn't understand him so Mr. Moochick has to translate and remembers the Book of Lost Answers. The only problem is the book is still inside and the chair blocks Mr. Moochick's attempt to enter so Habbit shows them another way in. While the chair continues snacking, the group peer into a window and find the book they're looking for.
He uses his magic and this time not only gets the book but leaves the chair buried under the rest of the books that were piled up. Once he looks inside, they find a problem in that they need the magic wands, which they don't have, and the heart of Ponyland, which means they have to work together and look in their hearts to find their way.
With no time to lose, Megan and Tiffany fly off while Spike and the others have reached Lavan's Throne Room. They open the doors and find the magic wands still there but void of their magical powers. Worse still, Lavan arrives to note that he has the power and attacks the princess ponies as they cower behind the rocky stump.
