Episode 58 | Flight to Cloud Castle (Part 1) | Aired: September 16, 1987 |
We find Locket, Heart Throb and G1 Twilight having fun
in and around a waterfall and take their game to the skies where an
unknown flying object knocks them for a loop. All they know is it was a
large bird-like creature and something was chasing it, or someone as we
see a man with a lasso pleading for the bird creature to come back. He
trips over a rock and ends up on the ground with the rope wrapped around
him. The pony trio decide to help but find the man not being helpful as
to who he is and where he wants to take Heart Throb. They learn his name is Garf and his problem is finding his true love Ariel in a floating castle he was unable to catch. They set out as Garf expands on his story, anxious to get to the floating castle. However, flying would prove faster so Garf goes with Heart Throb and as the others tag along, Garf uses a song to describe what he'd do for his love. The pegasai are getting tired but need to search a bit as the castle moves around. Locket pulls ahead and ends up finding the castle at its usual resting place. They don't know how to get in but Garf states the legend and the challenges awaiting them so they head forward to face them. However, Heart Throb isn't fast enough for the castle and ends up tuckered out so she asks Locket to try. While Heart Throb and Twilight rest, Locket isn't having any better luck but Heart Throb keeps the group's spirits up and suggests they come in together, guaranteeing one of them landing. Furthermore, Twilight hatches a plan that successfully gets them access to landing but they're met with a new being and his trident. Locket tries another way in and is met with a fire-breathing lizard of sorts. Garf is ready to give up but Heart Throb reminds him of his true love and they press on, using the abundance of rope Garf has to trap the castle. However, being a floating castle, it starts spinning and the ponies eventually let go and are headed for a rocky pillar in the clouds. |
