Episode 39 Woe is Me
(Part 2)
Aired:
Novemer 4, 1986
As Baby Shady struggles to stay above the muck, Masquerade flies over and struggles to save her. Woebegone and Lickety Split are convinced the baby pony is finished but Masquerade eventually gets her free. However, Lickety Split maintains that things will never be truly fine until Woebegone is gone and Woebegone knows it and feels he should leave before he causes any more trouble. In fact, he starts a song that the others try to counteract with their own lyrics and to keep him from running away.
Finally, Woebegone starts to accept that maybe they're right but the ground under his feet gives way and he ends up in a hole. Worse still, the dark cloud above his head shocks him with lightning, even after he's being chased by bees thanks to knocking the hive off the tree. They know it doesn't have to be this way and race to find him. They arrive at the charred remains of a forest and Woebegone is up in a tree that is also burnt to a crisp. He wants to be alone but the tree branch under him gives way and he ends up on the ground. They want to hear the rest of the story so after some recalling, Woebegone resumes.
The witch is whom put the spell on Woebegone as she felt he hadn't been sorry enough. Though he becomes a hero, he doesn't feel like he is one and his fame turns the other way once the curse takes effect. He realizes he may indeed be bad luck as a storm movies in. It proves to be a big storm as he arrives to find the town flooded and walks away. The ponies don't believe in curses and figure the guilt is why bad things are occuring. Furthermore, since he belived bad things would happen, they did. All the witch did was bring his fears to life.
Woebegone tries believing in himself and eventually the cloud above his head vanishes and nothing bad happens. With that, the witch appears to not only congratulate him and the ponies for breaking the spell but fixes all the damage that was caused, including to Woebegone's foot. Woebegone is so excited, he races to the meadow, then they all race back to the nursery to tell Lickety Split the news. He's cured of his bad habits and heads out but not before tripping. No one is perfect and it can happen to anyone.
