Episode 38 Woe is Me
(Part 1)
Aired:
November 3, 1986
We see a different part of Ponyland as a mysterious man races to get away. An alligator dinosaur appears, revealing the man as Woebegone and is giving chase. Meanwhile, Posey is loving how her garden is and finds Woebegone's hat, then Woebegone himself. She agrees to let him hide in the tall sunflowers but has no idea what an alligatorsaur is. The alligatorsaur makes himself known but Posey covers for Woebegone by saying he's not here but they'll find out why he's after Woebegone if Woebegone is here.
However, Woebegone is only slightly hurt as alligatorsaurs are light on their feet. They don't want to let Woebegone go but Woebegone notes that the holes are his doing. They refuse to listen to another word and take Woebegone to the nursery to rest. Woebegone doesn't feel better and is able to forsee the broken cookies and the collapse of the nursery. Everyone but Woebegone races outside just before much of the bulding collapses. They find Woebegone still inside and get him out before any further collapsing takes place.
They take him to Paradise Estate but don't believe that he's been bad luck since he was a lad so he shares his story. However, partway through, the Estate's walls collapse and now they must find Woebegone another place to sleep but aren't interested in the rest of the story just yet. They move to another room in the Estate and things seem to be holding alright, until the light fixture Woebegone is residing in gives way and ends up landing on his foot. Luckily, the baby ponies are heavy sleepers and don't hear anything.
He tucks Baby Heart Throb in, or tries to, but the crib breaks and he heads outside. The next morning, as repairs begin, the ponies find out Woebegone is missing but despite what's been going on, they agree to find him and take care of him. Realizing this, Gusty and Lickety Split stay behind as Lickety Split figures she'll have to reinforce Paradise Estate entirely. The group finds Woebegone but their song is undermined as Woebegone adds his own depressing lyrics to their uplifting ones as things continue to deteriorate.
Woebegone gives in and hopes they don't regret it. They arrive just as work has finished but Lickety Split still isn't happy to see Woebegone, figuring his bad luck has come with. Gingerbread insists bad luck isn't real and tries to rationalize the tree Woebegone knocks down. However, a mysterious brownish red substance appears and Baby Shady now needs help getting out.
