Episode 28 | The Return of Tambelon (Part 1) | Aired: October 20, 1986 |
The ponies and humans are playing hide and seek with
Paradise being it and she reminds them of the rule change. Paradise
begins her count and everyone races to find a place to hide. Baby Ribbon
struggles to find a place to hide but when Paradise finds her, she winks
out in spite of the rules. Ribbon wants her back with them but it's not
so easy for her to wink back in. Nevertheless, after a bit of a
struggle, Baby Ribbon fully appears. The group agrees to reset the game with Paradise still it and Baby Ribbon can't even hide in the pool with the sea ponies occupying it. Left with seemingly no other option, Baby Ribon feebly hides behind the rock before once again breaking the rules by winking out. However, this time she doesn't return and neither does Ribbon when she decides to wink out and find her. Ribbon finds herself in another world and threatened by other beings while Megan learns of their situation. Megan figures something else must be going on but Galaxy doesn't listen and winks out too. Megan recommends telling the other unicorns not to wink out until their mess is sorted and the group agrees, then heads out. At the nursery, the baby ponies have made a mountain of pillows with Baby Lickety Split on top but Paradise and Shady arrive too late to stop Baby Gusty from winking out. Elsewhere, Fizzy wants to cross the river but lets her fear get the best of her and despite the sea ponies' suggestion to use the rocks, she winks out and isn't seen winking back in. Worse still, they learn Gusty is also gone as she was in too big a hurry to get to lunch. They form search parties and head out but don't get far before sunset as Sweet Stuff finds herself under a rock slide. As a result, Sweet Stuff winks out and they lose sight of her. Out of options, the group head back home but Megan has a nightmare about a being named Tambelon and tells the others about it. Paradise finds the name Tambelon familiar and recalls a legend of an ancient city. They continue searching and use a song to share their lack of finding the unicorns. The next day, Paradise tells the group of Tambelon, Grogar, and his vow of revenge 500 years later. It's not enough to explain what happened to the unicorns so Paradise shares a possible theory. We find the unicorns getting what could be one of their last meals by the guards, including a donkey that teases them before their group leaves. The group wants a way out but Ribbon did the only thing she could and hopes Megan recieved the message. The donkey reports to Grogar that the unicorns have been captured and we learn his name is Bre. Grogar orders him to prepare the Troggles for their inevitable arrival in ponyland without dottling. Bre obeys and walks away. Meanwhile, Megan has decided to form search parties again but a storm appears more quickly than they'd ever seen before. However, it's actually Tamnelon and Bre sends the Troggles out of the city to capture the ponies. Eventually, all the ponies are captured and soon Grogar will have all of Ponyland. |
