Episode 44 Crunch, the Rockdog (Part 2) Aired:
November 13, 1986
The group press on as they cannot save Gusty anyhow. They reach a cliff with nowhere to run as the rock-o-lanterns surround them but Buttons decides to play games by winking in and out as they try to close in. While Buttons continues distracting, the others head for the mountain. Buttons finishes off the rock-o-lanterns by making the cliff give way, sending them tumbling onto Crunch himself. Meanwhile, the rest hope for the best with Buttons but she quickly appears and puts their fears at ease.
All they have to do is find the elevated eminince but they're standing on him as his voice booms over the landscape and makes the entire ground shake. It's the eminence's own fault that Crunch is so out of control as he needed a guard for his Heartstone but never put any heart in Crunch himself. They need the Heartstone to defeat Crunch and opens the passage so they can go inside, uncertain of what'll happen once they remove the stone. With help from EE, they reach the Heartstone but Megan has second thoughts.
EE assures it's fine so she takes it but finds out it wasn't a good idea as EE is now angry and demanding the stone back. The group race to escape and find the way out just before several boulders block the entrance. However, Crunch has found them and Truly wants to take action. To everyone's surprise, Wind Whistler doesn't mind what Crunch does with Truly but it's not so easy for Crunch to accept. With that, Crunch turns Truly to stone but Wind Whistler sheds a tear and proves she was lying.

Desperate to convince she isn't, Wind Whistler makes Megan the next victim to be turned to stone. Crunch wants no part of her as Megan has the Heartstone and uses it to turn Crunch into a puppy. As a result, his powers on everyone else disappear, restoring everyone turned to stone to normal. Gusty reunites with the others and with a little help from Buttons, they give a piece of the Heartstone to Crunch, restoring him back to his previous form but with a much kinder attitude. As they take the stone back, Megan sings a song about how wonderful having a heart is. They arrive and deliver the stone back to its rightful place.
By the time the song is over, everyone is singing and even EE has a heart of cloud. They say their goodbyes but Wind Whistler doesn't need thanks as she thinks logic was what made her do what she did. Besides, it'd been too difficult to carry home three stone statues anyway.
