(2017) (Part 3) |
Aired: September 24, 2017 |
Right when Tempest's count
hits three, there's a faint scream and sure enough, the ponies have used
the the trap door to escape. Most are fearful for what will happen
when they land but Rarity still manages to find a mirror relaxing while
Pinkie Pie just enjoys the ride. Twilight steps in and gets everyone
safely into a makeshift hot air balloon, which drifts slowly to the
ground. Up above, Grubber saves Captain Celano and crew from a
potentialy painful fate by bringing up the map Twilight and her friends
had been using. Capper can't weasel his way out and gets an assault from Tempest as does the ship itself. Down below, the ponies arrive at Mount Aris just when Rarity is about to give up all hope. However, once inside, things look much more bleak than they appeared to be or that anyone had anticipated. Pinkie Pie checks everywhere and finds no one at all. Spike fears the worst has happened to the Hippogryphs but a faint sound draws Twilight to a narrow opening ahead of them. The group transcend the passage and find a much more pleasant place than where they'd been seconds earlier but Pinkie Pie disturbs the peace of the singer causing the sound. As a result, the singer jumps into the water, leaving Pinkie Pie to cannonball her way in and find the singer gone. With everyone in the pool, they find themselves going down with the water and unable to breathe when the turbulence relaxes. Luckily, their heads are now sealed in a bubble, allowing them to breathe underwater but it's not Twilight's doing. A shadow passes in front of them, leaving them scared but Twilight begins explaining the situation. An orb of light appears and a voice isn't sure whether to trust them until Twilight explains why they're here. With that, the orb reveals itself as a seapony (or merpony as they're really known as, given the tail) and takes them to see her mom. When they arrive, there are other seaponies there along with her mom, whom appears to have her own throne. The queen protests against the Mane Six being there as it's forbidden and sends in her royal guards but her daughter intervenes to say they're in the same situation. When Twilight asks about who they are, the daughter ignores her mother's protest and explains their story. Her mother is the same Queen Novo from the story and she shows the group how they were able to escape using a special pearl housed above and turns the Mane Six into seaponies too. Most of the group enjoy the fun they're having, though Fluttershy is less thrilled about it. Twilight fantasizes about what she could do with the pearl but Queen Novo isn't giving the pearl up at all, despite all the trouble the Mane Six had gone through and all the things the seaponies are missing. The daughter suggests the Mane Six stay with them but the group note that have families back in Ponyville and thus cannot stay there. The news doesn't sit well with the daughter and she heads off to convince Queen Novo to return them to normal. Pinkie Pie isn't willing to go yet as she's seen how disapointed the daughter, revealed as Princess Skystar, was. Twilight agrees and sends them off to have a good time with Princess Skystar while she herself tackles the ordeal of the special pearl. Just when Princess Skystar is going to break into tears, Pinkie Pie and the others arrive with a song that Skystar joins in. As the song progresses, the Mane Six make friends with others and by the time it's over, even Queen Novo is touched and joins in. In fact, Queen Novo has an idea but their concentration is interrupted by a muffled pinging sound. Twilight has not only set off the alarm but found herself entangled with the tentacles as she tries to get the special pearl. As a result, Queen Novo scolds Skystar and returns the Mane Six to normal, considering them unworthy of being seaponies with them. The group arrive back on the surface and make it to dry land before questioning Twilight for her actions. They were close to having it there way but Twilight felt taking the pearl was the only way to save Equestria. However, Pinkie Pie gets suspicious and questions whether Twilight actually wanted them to have fun and just be a distraction. Twilight protests that she wouldn't have done it had Equestria not been on the line but Pinkie Pie notes that Twilight was the one that made the plan fail and perhaps doesn't trust her own friends. Twilight's next reply hits the rest hard as they're brought to shock and tears at what they just heard. Twilight soon realizes what she's done but it's too late. The others are walking way, unable to even give Twilight a friendly gaze as they pass her by, leaving Twilight and Spike alone. Twilight heads to a rocky pile near the shore with deep regrets, even as Spike assures her things will be figured out. Things become eerily silent and Twilight looks to check on Spike, only to find one of Storm King's henchmen has gotten him. Worse still, she's captured too and taken aboard Storm King's ship. Spike gets free using fire but it's too late to try and save Twilight as she finds herself deep in the ship and unable to use her magic to escape. Tempest appears and snickers about Twilight lacking her friends despite her new status. Twilight doesn't understand why Tempest is causing the trouble when she's like Twilight. Tempest protests otherwise, saying she's more than Twilight will ever be. As a further incentive, Tempest uses a song to help show Twilight the truth and share a bit of her own backstory, which includes a glimpse of her past using an art style similar to one used during the Season 2 finale. |
