Episode 162	It Isn't the Mane Thing About You	Aired: September 16 2017
In Ponyville, an extensive line has formed as ponies await flowers but Sweetie Drops and other struggle to find the right flowers. Luckily, Rarity is there to help and suggests choosing flowers that make their mane look better.  Slowly but surlyl, the line dissipates and Rarity now needs a favor from them. Their stock is very limited but the trio are willing to help Rarity out for her ordeal. Later, she goes fan shopping but none of the fans are the size she wants. The owner is willing to make one the size she wants but Rarity opts for a better idea and it's enough to draw customers into the shop. Next on her list is a couch but the selection is too limited for her tastes and suggests a light yellow one to be made. A customer has similar tastes and the owner considers the option given how low sales had been thus far. He agrees and off Rarity goes to Sugar Cube Corner, where Pinkie Pie is busy celebrating the Cake Twins' first sneezes. Unfortunately, Pinkie Pie's silly string ends up all over the place, including in Rarity's mane and tail. In fact, it's not coming off due to it being super sticky celebation string, which doesn't make Rarity feel any better as now her brush is stuck in her hair. Pinkie Pie has no better luck dealing with the Cake Twins, whom are now stuck together and to the floor. Pinkie Pie's next statement gives Rarity an idea and once Pinkie Pie literally pries the cake twins off the floor with a crowbar, they brave the dark, spooky forest to Zecora's house. Along the way, the duo discuss other possible hairstyles Photo Finish could approve of but Rarity doesn't think any of them would meet the criteria. After giving the spooky yellow eyes in the forest a scolding, the duo arrive at Zecora's place. Once inside, they find Zecora has what they need (though the contents are identical and there's clearly no label to tell them apart). Rarity starts feeling nervous, especially once Zecora brings up snippets of her stories about mane manicures gone wrong. Just when she's about to leave, Rarity returns and gets spooked enough to bump the table, leaving both viles to drop to the floor. She picks them up and darts off, not willing to spend another second inside. Pinkie Pie stays a bit longer, even after Zecora reminds her of her mess at Sugar Cube Corner. Once back at Sugar Cube Corner, she gets to work, finding the substance making bubble bath suds, much to her delight. Meanwhile, Rarity is also at work, cleaning off the celebration string in the shower. Feeling satisfied, she ends the shower and heads for the mirror, making sure to wring out the towel. However, when she views herself in the mirror that is freshly cleared, her mane is a far cry from its usual appearance and she lets out an earful of a scream in response. She races back to Zecora, whom almost doesn't recognize Rarity in a hoodie. Unfortunately, Zecora reiterates the fact that mane manicures aren't easy to fix but hints at a possible solution. Rarity doesn't like the low probability so Zecora suggests she finish her to-do list so that the cure can be completed. Rarity sets out but can't keep everyone from seeing her mane. Unfortunately, the cloak also prevents ponies from seeing or recognizing that she's even there as Golden Harvest and others unwittingly cut in front of her, leaving Rarity to nervously protest against it. Eventually, Rarity gives up and returns to the fan store, only to feel even more nervous about what the store owner is saying. Next, she moves back to the couch seller, whom has the yellow couch ready for sale but Rarity cannot make the purchase in time. Frustrated, she heads to Twilight's castle and explains the ordeal to Twilight and Starlight, whom also cannot resist gasping over the mane's disamal appearance. Despite what Zecora had told her, Rarity wants her mane back but neither Starlight nor Twilight can fix it without some reprocussion, even after the two of them combine their magic. Zecora returns to admit she was wrong as there's no actual cure, only to let the mane grow back. She could also do time travel but Starlight and Twilight agree against the idea. Rarity heads to her boutique to get the opinions of Applejack, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, none of which are willing to admit it's as bad as it actually is. When the trio find out what Rarity's problem is, they have a solution already. Applejack shows Rarity the disguise to use in the form of a hat with pigtails worn by Granny Smith but it's not something Rarity is interested in, nor is it what Photo Finish is looking for. Next, Rainbow Dash gives Rarity a head of cloud hair but it promptly stays in the sky when Rarity walks away. Not even a nature-made hairdo cheers Rarity up and she considers cancelling the photo shoot. The others discuss the matter and arrive at Rarity's boutique. When they're allowed in, they find Rarity in her usual dramatic scenario, eating her troubles away. Applejack has had enough and notes that a ruined mane isn't the end of the world. The others add the good things she's done just by being herself and it's enough to get Rarity off the couch and into a new look (that looks horrible IMO). Meanwhile, Filthy Rich is returning the many flowers he'd purchased as he didn't even ask his wife what she wanted. Now he knows she wanted purple and Rarity is here to help given her photoshoot cancellation. The others marvel her new look and at the fan seller's store, Rarity suggests bringing the fans outside. It's also met with approval but when Rarity brings up the mishap with the viles, she realizes Pinkie Pie had the other vile and they race off to see her. The door opens and out comes Pinkie Pie and the Cake Twins on a wave of shampoo bubbles. It becomes clear to Pinkie Pie that this is why things ended up that way but there's now a bigger mess inside so Rarity heads off to get the correct vile solution. Months pass and Rarity has her mane back but it doesn't feel back to her, even when her friends assure her so. Pinkie Pie finds the latest issue of Beautiful Manes in Equestria by Vanity Mare and eventually gets Rarity to have a look. To Rarity's surprise, her new look makes the paper as the others had a talk with Photo Finish, whom had been snapping photos along the way. Rarity as a loss for words but her style is now the hottest trend as residents have a new hairdo in her honor.
