Episode 157 Fame and Misfortune Aired:
August 12 2017
We find Twilight walking through town when she gets ice cream on her chest. It's revealed to be from Toola-Roola (yes name comes from the one in G3), whom intended it for her adversary Coconut Cream (again, from G3), whom is set with a plate of sweets of her own. However, her attempt fails and manges to land in front of a customer at a table, whom promptly eats it. Nevertheless, the feud resumes until Twilight uses her magic to bring it to a stop, teaching them that it's worth fighting for (yet you did nothing against the dragons that were bullying you from the moment you stepped into their den, Twilight).
The duo make-up and Twilight finds the lesson familiar so she heads back to her castle. There, she finds a dusty book with all the lessons each of them has learned but the book's condition is further amplified when Twilight shows Starlight the very lesson she remembered as the pages fall out. Later, Twilight brings the others together so they can see the journal but it's met with confusion as only Pinkie Pie is able to recognize the book's cover. Furthermore, Rainbow Dash peers through it to find other messy details about it.
As a bonus, Starlight makes each of them a copy of the book, a spell she learned back when she was trying to make everyone equal.  The othere reminisce about their lessons from days gone by before Twilight suggests making copies for others to own, hoping they'll benefit from the lessons. With that, Twilight distributes copies of the journal across Equestria but as she distributes copies at Ms. Cheerilee's school, Toola Roola and Coconut Cream are at it again and are given a lesson to read about to calm their nerves.
Feet away, the Cutie Mark Crusaders have risen in popularity and have opted to make a Cutie Mark Summer Camp, which doesn't sit well with Twilight as the journal wasn't mean to be marketed. As they head back into Ponyville, they find ponies from Fillydelphia that want their copies signed. Further down, they overhear two ponies complimenting on the journals and rush behind a bush to listen more closely. Unfortunately, they don't hear all good words and neither does Rarity nearby, whom is brought to tears and runs off.
As a result, Twilight heads off to deal with Rarity's issue while Starlight attends to the matter of the gossiping duo.  However, Pinkie Pie intercepts her pursuit with news of her own that involves her being quite funny to others, even when Pinkie Pie doesn't say anything funny. Twilight resumes going after Rarity while Pinkie Pie slinks away, unwanting to be anywhere near her ever-laughing audience. Walking further into town, Twilight finds Pinkie Pie isn't the only one with a problem as Rainbow Dash is being bothered by fillies that can't get enough of her stories from the past.
In fact, the fillies find Twilight's lessons boring and refuse to read any about her. Worse still,  Rainbow Dash can't even deal with clouds moving in on her own as the fillies follow her along the way too. As Twilight takes to the skies, she hears a commotion and heads to the ground to find Fluttershy the next victim of the book's marketing. Residents are upset that Fluttershy doesn't seem to be learning anything and some want to be in the book for learning so much more but Fluttershy stands up for herself and proves them wrong.
With nothing being successful outside, Starlight and Twilight head inside Rarity's boutique where Rarity has completely lost it in the form of what she calls "stress sewing". It's all thanks to ponies cancelling their orders and boycotting her. Just when Twilight is about to leave to attend to the boycotting, Applejack bursts in, requesting 100 blankets to deal with her own popularity issue. Rarity agrees and Applejack takes what she can and heads out. Twilight and Starlight settle how to deal with the two issues before Twilight heads out to deal with the angry ponies that can't seem to let up.
It's only getting worse at Sweet Apple Acres as pretty much every member of the family is hard at work attending to their large number of fans. It's not until Twilight finds Applejack that she learns about the Sweet Apple Admirers, the fans that consider themselves part of the family. As Applejack races by to help Granny Smith carry dirty dishes, others cheer her on but Twilight now has regrets of giving the journal to so many other ponies. She takes it so hard on herself that she returns to the castle to gaze out the window where Starlight walks in to assure her it's not her fault.
Regardless, a knock at the door interrupts them and the rest of the Mane Six are brought inside, away from the mob, having nowhere elese to turn to. Each of them relays their ordeal to the others but has no idea how to solve it and the mob outside just won't quit. With the others still miserable, Starlight still tries to assure Twilight it isn't her fault but gets an idea and runs off, leaving Twilight to try and fix the escalating problems outside. Twilight heads outside and gets the mob's attention but has to answer questions for the Canterlot Confidential and it is  hard to believe they'd become friends as they have nothing in common).
Nothing Twilight says convinces the crowd (and they even quite things some in the fandom have already said). As the arguing ensues, Twilight gets their attention again, this time to use a song to hopefully better explain things with the others joining in as the song progresses. The result is a mixed bag of mostly negative reactions, leaving the ponies to head back inside, where Toola Roola and Coconut Cream are waiting for them with thanks. In fact, the lessons made them realize that friends go through all kinds of trouble and come out better than before.
Each of them has also realized that they can't change the opinions of others but can change how it affects/doesn't affect them and after a good laugh, the group gather for a hug, even as the angry mob waits outside.
