Episode 153 A Royal Problem Aired:
June 10 2017
We find Twilight and Spike inside Twilight's castle where Twilight is frozen with shock and disbelief that the map has called Starlight and only Starlight to a problem in progress. Finally, Twilight snaps out of it but it was due to the location of said problem, Canterlot Castle. This has Twilight on edge and it gets Starlight on edge as well so Twilight tries to assure it's probably minor (because the map has TOTALLY called ponies to a minor problem).
Spike has his own idea but it's one Twilight hates to consider as a possibility as she and Starlight gaze back at the map. With that, Starlight heads to Canterlot Castle but while Celestia assures nothing is wrong, Luna gives Starlight a clear indication that a problem indeed exists between them. Nevertheless, Starlight is given a place to stay but can't even relax as Twilight has duplicated herself as a music box to stay with Starlight and find out how things are progressing.
Starlight relays her findings to Twilight but Twilight is clueless how to help but knows how to get things relaxed if need be (not that she has a choice). At breakfast, Princess Celestia has cooked pancakes (that resemble a pony's face I might add) as she's happy to do so but Luna comes in with the exact opposite atmosphere, too tired to really care for either of them or for her unusual diet of pineapple. It's enough for breakfast to be cut short as Celestia admits the problem has persisted each morning, which leaves Starlight to break the news to Twilight.
Starlight decides to get all the details first before she intervenes and has requested to see Luna that night. With that, a royal guard comes in to announce that Luna is ready but can't make out where the mystery voice is coming from when it speaks. Outside, Starlight finds Luna replacing mounds of flowers over each window and learns how relaxing the aroma can be. Unfortunately, Celestia comes in with guests and is not only having fun but seemingly shows no admiration for Luna's work, leaving Luna upset.
Later that night, Starlight presents her latest findings, which doesn't make Twilight feel any better, knowing what had happened before when the two princesses fought each other. Starlight becomes more frustrated so Twilight admits she's doing nothing helpful to the matter. The next morning, things are no better as while Starlight gets her usual batch of pancakes, Luna continues to be negative, prompting Celestia to glare back at her with concern. This time, Starlight stops Luna from leaving and gets both of their attention to express her own concern.
It's enough for Celestia and Luna to express their feelings but it escalates into an argument on how one feels about the work being done by the other.  With Starlight unable to stop the argument, she switches their cutie marks, allowing each of them to take part in the other's job but it still has Starlight uneasy. The news doesn't sit well with the princesses but Starlight's spell lasts 24 hours so they're stuck like that until then. The princesses agree to take part as they're now capable of seeing how the other's job actually is.
Twilight has a really hard time swallowing the news Starlight gives her and causes the royal guard to become concerned so Starlight assures him she's fine. Later, Luna makes a brief announcement regarding the switch she and Celestia have taken part in before taking part in said duties. However, despite her confidence, things prove to be a bit more difficult than they seemed to be as the duties get underway. Once the paper arrives, it's not good news as Luna's photograph has her frowning, which is not what Luna intended to do.
Worse still, Luna's unhappiness caused the fundraiser to fall short, leaving the fillies unable to have their field trip. Regardless, Luna's day isn't over yet as there's still much to do and no time to fix previous mistakes.  Unable to forget the fundraiser failure, Luna tries to assure that no Timberwolves exist but the townsponies runaway unconvinced. Next up is the town hall meeting, which takes 3 hours and leaves Luna exhausted by the time it's over. With the day's work done, Luna heads off to bed just as Celestia arrives to learn the news.
It's just as Celestia figured and she heads off to raise the moon, which proves easier than she expected. However, no one can tell her what to do next as they're all asleep, leaving Celestia on her own and talking to herself. Even in the dream area, Celestia is still talking to herself and eventually finds Starlight in a nightmare. Celestia arrives, only to learn that Starlight was wrong about her idea and that now she's facing both Nightmare Moon and an evil version of herself.
A battle ensues between the two of them with Celestia and Starlight caught in the middle. With nowhere else to go, Celestia checks on Luna, whom isn't having any better dreams. Just when it looks like Luna is in deep trouble, Celestia finds her and takes her into Starlight's nightmare. Unfortunately, Celestia has to be the one to settle things as Luna cannot use Celestia's magic in the dream world. As the battle rages on above (whereby evil Celestia's name is revealed to be Daybreaker), Celestia and Luna come clean, admitting they were wrong.
Dayabreaker hits Nightmare Moon hard but Nightmare Moon isn't willing to give up and attacks but Celestia intercepts the two of them and gets both of them to disappear before collapsing. With the three of them still in a dream, Celestia and Luna return to reality where Luna gives Celestia awful pancakes and can see right through Celestia's fake approval. Starlight arrives, confused at whether it's dream or not but luckily it's all real and the idea was just what Luna and Celestia needed as they're closer now than ever before.
With Starlight's mission complete and the spell worn off, Celestia and Luna regain their normal cutie marks and Starlight is summoned back home. Twilight arrives first and drags Starlight away, wanting to know every detail. Luna lets Celestia know of the things needing to be fixed before heading off for bed without letting Celestia get more info.
