Episode 151 Hard to Say Anything Aired:
May 27 2017
We find Apple Bloom hard at work repainting the barn when Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle arrive with a box of old Talent Show costumes found from reorganizing the Boutique. The duo had figured the costumes might be needed for a future pony in need's problem. Apple Bloom is excited but finds an apple on the ground and returns it to Big Mac, whom is pushing another barrel into his wagon. It's just another trip to Starlight Glimmer's old village, the 5th one so far. Apple Bloom finds nothing out of place and returns to the others.
However, when Apple Bloom resumes discussion on the costumes, Scootaloo is far more interested in finding out why Big Mac was acting the way he did seconds earlier. Sweetie Belle shares Scootaloo's excitement and intrigue but even though they can't all decide the reasoning behind it, they still have a good laugh about their responses. While Big Mac gets the wagon ready to go, the trio discuss the matter behind barrels of hay and decide to go undercover using the same costumes they found earlier. By the time they're ready, Big Mac has begun leaving.
The trio race to catch up and manage to sneak inside without being noticed but find the trip rather dull. Big Mac stops the wagon once he arrives so the CMCs do their best to stay still in a formation. Luckily, Big Mac is too much in love to notice and simply grabs a barrel and heads off. From the cart, the binocculars prove useless to anyone but Apple Bloom, whom recognizes Big Mac's companion as Sugar Belle, the pony that owns the bakery there.
Despite nothing seemingly out of the ordinary, the trio dress up and peer into a nearby window to investigate. Sure enough, Sugar Belle has a large amount of apples already inside and it has Apple Bloom puzzled. Big Mac remains totally unable to speak properly as Sugar Belle commends him for allowing her to add to her baking variety. It soon becomes clear that Big Mac has a crush on Sugar Belle and Apple Bloom nearly blows it for them. Once Big Mac exits the bakery, the trio take their findings to Big Mac.
Big Mac proves to be more willing to admit his crush on Sugar Belle (and why not since it's clearly obvious). Apple Bloom spreads the word around but learns that Sugar Belle doesn't even know he likes her. They get Big Mac enough courage to walk over and give a flower to Sugar Belle but a male pony intercepts with a bouquet of flowers shaped like a heart. It's too much for Big Mac to take as Sugar Belle accepts the bouquet and chats with her latest companion (Feather Bangs as it turns out). Furthermore, Feather Bangs has his own trio of admirers that sigh at his every word and action.
Regardless, The CMCs want to help but Big Mac makes it very clear that they cannot use love potions to make it happen (though given that, I wouldn't be willing to let them help as they clearly seem to have no idea how to make it work without resorting to questionable methods). They never had any intent of using a love potion and instead resort to the book of fairy tales Sweetie Belle had read on the way over. With a little improvising, the trio decide on a method that has Big Mac worried. Once Sugar Belle comes out, the group begin strategizing.
Big Mac is no more ready now than he was before but their plan is put into action. Once again, Feather Bangs intercepts and returns the bag to Sugar Belle, getting the usual admiration from his trio of fans. The next plan makes Big Mac feel worse when he discovers what's about to unfold. With no sign of Feather Bangs, Big Mac puckers up only to have Feather Bangs once again foil the efforts (and thank goodness because otherwise, this is a horrible thing to teach children given that Sugar Belle was sleeping and Big Mac barely knows her).
The CMCs aren't giving up, especially Scootaloo, whom suggests a song as per the book. With Sugar Belle distracted by her treats, The CMCs and Big Mac sneak inside to hopefully put their plan into action. The lights are turned off and Big Mac starts the song, leaving Sugar Belle a bit mixed as to how to respond. However like before, Feather Bangs has his own way of getting to Sugar Belle and also uses a song. Sugar Belle is starting to get annoyed but is dragged back in when she starts to leave and gets more of the battle of the colts.
The battle escalates to the point where the duo are so high up that the backup dancers cannot hold them and they crash to the ground, leaving Sugar Belle to take a pie to the face. Sugar Belle has had enough and angrily sends them all out of the room. Outside, the CMCs scour the area for Big Mac and eventually find him briefly reading the fairy tale book and walk over to comfort him and apologize. They should've thought what'd been nice for Sugar Belle and that gives Big Mac an idea. With help from the CMCs to stall Sugar Belle for as long as possible Big Mac works to put together something special.
Scootaloo's tactics aren't working and with Sweetie Belle looking on, she doesn't think they'll be going on much longer so Apple Bloom and Big Mac race to get things done. Sugar Belle gets suspicious and backs Scootaloo into the door leading to her bakery. Sugar Belle finds her way in and after Big Mac steps back, is able to see the work he'd done. It's a bigger display case for even more treats and it fulfills something Sugar Belle had always wanted to try out. Big Mac is at a loss for words again but Sugar Belle already likes him anyway.
The CMCs interrupt with a comment on how sweet the remark was but Sugar Belle had been aware of them the whole time. Apple Bloom admits to everything and apologizes to Sweetie Belle for everything she'd been put through. Feather Bangs tries to gain Sugar Belle's heart from outside but it's too late as the CMCs prove.  Nevertheless, Feather Bangs still has his admirers but has no idea what to say and even asks the CMCs for help. With Big Mac unwilling to leave for a while, the CMCs agree to help Feather Bangs and have fun with his mane flip routine.
