Episode 130 | Stranger than Fan Fiction | Aired: June 30 2016 |
We find Daring Do in one of her typical adventures as
she navigates through the dangerous narrow walkway towards an artifact.
She makes it across but finds cobras in her way and we discover Twilight
is reading the story to Rainbow Dash, whom is packing her things for her
trip to the convention. Twilight really wants to go but instead has to
head to Griffonstone to help Princess Celestia with another task.
Rainbow Dash tries to playoff the convention's pending activities but
once she arrives, she cannot contain her excitement. Rainbow Dash cannot wait to get started and finds herself with a male suggesting an activity she's already done. Instead, she heads over to a replica of a room Daring Do had been in before, complete with mock-ups of the traps used and finds a friend just as into Daring Do as she is herself. The duo manage to share some compliments and we learn the new friend is Qubble Pants. Furthermore, Quibble Pants shows that he knows just as much as Rainbow Dash and they share the little-known fact about the arrow holes in the hat. The duo spend the morning with multiple activities and have a great time before stopping for lunch. The duo agree they've found someone that really knows the character well until Rainbow Dash realizes they've only done things from the first books and suggests they move onto the others after lunch. However, Quibble Pants refuses to acknowledge the other books and doesn't even want to hear the titles, considering the events that occured improbable. Worse still, the duo get into an argument over the books and the liklihood that the 2nd half's events could ever take place (this is where I side with Rainbow Dash as they're just books and don't need to have scenarios that are possible, that's what makes them better). Quibble Pants came to the convention to speak to A.K. Yearling about the suppsed dumbing down of the books but Rainbow Dash maintains that A.K. Yearling is better than that and the duo break away from their friendship but not before getting the attention of bystanders. Later, Rainbow Dash heads to somewhere in the hotel, requesting to speak to A.K. Yearling but while she cannot convince the front desk pony, A.K. Yearling herself appears and is willing to talk in private. However, once inside, she reveals her amulet that her rivals want, even if it's only a key. She shows Rainbow Dash a map that shows where the big treasure is and has to get there before the criminals do but until she finds it, she hides here. Furthermore, if she's ever called to a problem, she can blend in and instructs Rainbow Dash to keep an eye out for suspicious activity. Rainbow Dash heads out as Daring Do's rivals arrive with no sign of their desired treasure. However, Rainbow Dash jumps the gun when she finds a cosplayer dressed as the enemy and ends up bumping into Quibble Pants, whom sarcastically wants to hear more of why the impossible is quite possible. Rainbow Dash remains annoyed until she sees Cabileron and his adversaries but Quibble doesn't buy it. Regardless, the duo head through double doors as Rainbow Dash saw the trio go that direction but the two are quickly captured by the trio before they can proceed. Even when they're surrounded by the thugs, Quibble remains unconvinced that it's not for show and manages to figure out the entire plot. Regardless, the henchmen tie up Quibble and Rainbow Dash before walking away as per villain tradition. However, the others stay back until Quibble distracts them with a tiny metal hat, claiming it to be from Daring Do. The lock proves to be less-than-secure as Quibble manages to get it unlocked and escape. However, he's not interested in following Rainbow Dash until Rainbow Dash gets him to hypothetically believe it's a Dariing Do Adventurecation. Along the way, Quibble continues to annoy Rainbow Dash with the faults of the 2nd half of the books before they come to an old bridge but this is no surprise to Quibble. However, once the duo are on the bridge, Quibble finds himself partially stuck in the bridge as a few of the boards give way. Rainbow Dash tries to free him but as Quibble predicts, the bridge's supports fail and he plunges downward. Luckily, Rainbow Dash manages to save him and that proves to be pretty awesome for Quibble. Though it isn't long before Quibble is back to thinking it's all part of the show but they've lead the villains right to the temple housing the big treasure and are once again tied up. Even once inside the temple. Quibble says it's a fake, only it's a knockoff. Quibble gets free and even once he activates traps, he continues his ranting until the monster he predicts comes out of the muck to finally convince him it's all real. The group race to escape but the villains prevent access to their hideout, leaving Daring Do to rescue them. After Daring Do scolds Rainbow Dash for not following orders, they make their escape through a secret door. On the other side, they find seven doors, only one of which actually houses the treasure. Quibble is all-to-aware of which one and after giving a few hints, he's allowed to share the connection and the winning door. They unlock the door and get the treasure but their usual way out is blocked by the muck and the only way out now is up top. With a little help from Quibble, they manage to escape, though it was partially a miscommunication that got them out. Daring Do isn't out of danger yet as the villains are not far away so she picks up a rock and hits it against a wall. The villains are lead right to it just as it gives way and allows the beast from before to chase them away. It's time for them to go their separate ways as Daring Do is getting her treasure to a museum but she thanks them for their help as they were what allowed her to get the item. Even after all that, Quibble cannot like the 2nd half of the books and realizes that each of them likes a different part of Daring Do. The duo make amends and head off as Quibble ponders his chances of making the next book (even into the credits I might add). |
