We find Spike at Twilight's house making a jewel cake with Owl Wishes watching and he can't help but eat the main ingredients and OW has to show him the thief is himself. There's a knock at the door and Fluttershy has arrived with Angel, asking to pet sit Angel for the price of a jewel while she and the rest aid to Princess Cadance at the Equestria Games the following day.Of course, while Spike agrees, he's more interested in making his cake and Angel would much rather go with Fluttershy and heads out with her. Spike decides to obtain other jewels and ends up pet sitting all the Mane 6's pets in exchange for a jewel each (where are they getting these jewels from, Rarity?). The next day, the group arrive with their pets and Twilight has to be told why so many pets are in her house but isn't so sure Spike can handle it. Before the group departs, they each have a final bit of play with their pets. As the group head out, Spike finds out just how hard it is to keep the pets under control but manages to get 5 of the 6 in a line but Angel makes things difficult. Spike takes the pets for a walk, finding Angel at the Cutie Mark Crusaders' clubhouse, where he is having as much fun as the CMCs. Spike's offer at first is declined since the CMCs have a new plan to obtain their cutie marks but decide to take up on Spike's offer, given they have no idea how to skydive and agree that a bunny-sitting cutie mark would be nice. However, they agree to pet sit all the pets at once but for the price of a jewel to get what the pets need for essentials. While walking about with the ingredients, he overhears the CMCs discussing the pets and discovers that there's paint all over the place. Making matters worse, they spent the jewel Spike gave them for the industrial-sized hairdryer that Winona is using. Spike heads out with the pets and gets wrapped around a tree. Zecora offers to help for the price of a jewel but only deposits it into a mailbox (sheesh and I thought you were supposed to be helpful, Zecora). Since the animals are fighting, Spike makes them into a ball and Granny Smith gets suspicious when she sees it pass her, agreeing to not say a word to anyone for the price of a jewel. The animals break free and OW mentions that Angel is on the Ponyville Express but he can't get on with the pets without a ticket and a chaperone. The conductor lets him on board for the price of a jewel when Spike obtains the CMCs as chaperones. Once on board, the CMCs overhear that the train is heading to the Crystal Empire. He snags Angel but is too late to get off the train and ends up taking the trip to the CE anyway. The animals make a mess out of the conductor and is forced to give up another jewel. Upon arrival, the CMCs want to look around and use one of Scootaloo's feathers to get past Spike. Unfortunately, the pets plow through and the Mane 6 are spotted getting ready to board. Spike throws his last jewel at the seatbelt holding Fluttershy's luggage together and the belt becomes uncoupled, leaving the luggage in a pile on the platform and the jewel itself just above it on the station's roof. They board just in time but the Mane 6 have also boarded and are coming towards them. Applejack sits down and Angel goes to spoil Spike's plan but her legs can't reach. Spike realizes that he was only thinking of himself when he agreed to watch the animals but is now hungry and Applejack notices but can't figure out where it is. Angel helps by finding and handing his last jewel to Spike, whom takes a bite to make himself less hungry. Everyone arrives at Ponyville's train station and get off the train to be reunited with their pets and is praised for his work. Back inside Twilight's house, Twilight is in the mood for a jewel-themed cake but Spike eats the last of his jewels.
