Episode 64 Games Ponies Play Aired:
February 9 2013
We start off with a tie-in from last week's episode as the intro is a case of deja-vu to anyone having seen last week's episode. Now taking paths with the Mane six, the group discuss the upcoming Equestria Games and learn that Cloudsdale never hosted them and Rainbow Dash recalls hearing this as a filly (and we're treated to what very well could be his father). Determined, the group set out on the Ponyville Express to convince the Games Inspector that the Crystal Empire should host the games. On board, the group practice their welcome routine and all but Twilight feel pretty confident about how things will go and the group start to practice again when they're forced to the floor by the force of the train stopping.
Once off the train, the group arrive to see the town being spruced up and head inside where Princess Cadance is waiting. Rarity needs air from the excitement she gets and is told that the group is free to use the manicures so Pinkie Pie dives right in (and it looks more like Jell-O than mud). However, Rarity gets excited when she learns about the headdress and offers to make it once the bad news is given. However, there's much to be done to get the dress made and the Games Inspector is arriving on the next train 15 minutes away.
While Rarity works on figuring out the long list of steps for the dress, the rest of the group heads outside and wait for the pending arrival of the Games Inspector. Rainbow Dash warns of what scheme the Games Inspector is probably up to and advises they keep on their toes. The Games Inspector arrives and at first isn't thrilled about what she encounters but quickly shows her cheerful side. They escort her inside the castle and another pony arrives on the platform with the same handbag design, waiting suspiciously.
Meanwhile, Rarity is making progress with the special hairdo but her shortcuts have left Cadance's mane a mess. Elsewhere, the GI is offered a seat but would rather walk around to stretch her hooves. However, when she hears that the group were about to star their welcoming routine, she sits down to watch. Their performance goes without a hitch but leaves them tuckered out. With Princess Cadance still MIA, Rainbow Dash decides to show GI around the castle, despite how little the group knows of the area.
Twilight agrees to check on Cadance while the others give the tour and the pony from the platform makes her way around, encountering Twilight along the way.Twilight checks with Rarity but is denied any viewing of Cadance's hair and is pushed out as Rarity needs more time to fix the problem. Back inside the castle, Pinkie Pie feebly tries to explain the various design elements. Twilight arrives to see Pinkie Pie acting silly and explains how things aren't going well with Cadance either.
Twilight heads off to see Shining Armor while RD and her group escort GI to the gymnasium. Outside, Twilight finds Shining Armor giving commands to ponies running the obstacle course track and SA agrees to help but out comes GI, whom is excited to be outside and begins running the obstacle course, smashing through everything in and around her path. The group give chase as the GI crashes through another door with a vase on her head and manage to remove the vase. The GI enjoyed her run and finds herself talking to SA and stating that she is from Mustangia but not the Games Inspector so the group head off only to find the real Games Inspector in the last place they want her to be, the Spa. However, Rarity has fixed Cadance's special hairdo. Things aren't cheerful for long as the GI states it's her worst welcoming ever and Cadance learns of what happened.
At last, Cadance announces the news everyone has wanted hear: The Crystal Empire is hosting the next Equestria Games! The ponies get back on board, wondering how Spike may be doing and Twilight figures Spike is doing fine if he's done things right but Applejack can't pinpoint a sound that is closer than she thinks.
