Episode 49 Ponyville Confidential Aired:
March 31 2012
At Ms Cheerlee's school, class ends but the Cutie Mark Crusaders aren't happy that Featherweight, a rather skinny pony got his cutie mark before they did (although it's not there, either for being to small a space to put one or they forgot it accidentally). Apple Bloom has the solution and hands Scootaloo and Sweetie-Belle a newspaper but has to head home before she can explain.
Scootaloo and SB give it a shot, trying different methods only to arrive at their clubhouse muddy and getting laughed at. They could get their cutie marks by writing for the paper as journalists but SB and Scootaloo don't take it well. Once class ends the following day (or perhaps later that week), the first newspaper meeting begins and the group is greeted by their new Editor in Chief Diamond Tiara, whom rants about how bad she thinks the paper is. She assigns Featherweight to document away outside while the rest get to finding juicy stories.
The CMCs set out and get what they can find for a story but none of them are Diamond Tiara approved and they're ordered another story by day's end before being booted out of the room.Their train of thought changes when they overhear Snips and Snails in a bit of a predicament and after getting a few snapshots, the story goes into the paper with approval.

It's exactly what DT wants more of and they go under the name Gabby Gums. Unlike the first story, nothing comes to any of their minds.
Meanwhile, Rarity finds a roll of the school paper and snickers at the stories it entails. SB is surprised at not only Rarity snooping inside her daughter's bag but the fact that others would want to read the paper. Rarity asks about Gabby Gums but SB darts off before giving the answer. She meets with AB and Scootaloo to say how quickly they gave up and with Featherweight about to work overtime, new stories are born.At the spa, RD enters announcing the arrival of the latest issue of the paper that everypony around her already read.
Twilight questions GG's rather mean personality and isn't convinced by the others' reply. Even Spike got a story but it flops in DT's eyes and the trio realize that perhaps they're hurting the feelings of others. However, they continue with the gossip stories that are now not as funny as they once were when the Mane 6 see their faces in the paper themselves. Rarity finds out for herself just how low her daughter has gone. Things don't get better when DT denies the CMCs' request to leave the press, blackmailing them into continuing. Only problem is that nopony wants to speak to any of them.

By dawn the next day, the trio have a story and they're lucky DT is nice (since when? You haven' proven that EVER, even from before the paper printing, unless you consider blackmailing "nice". The real luck for them is the fact that you just let them print it without reading it first). She finds out next day of the trio's story and is determined to stop it once and for all. Little by little, the trio gains the trust of Ponyville'ers and Ms Cheerilee revokes DT's job as Editor in Chief, giving it to Featherweight instead, leaving her to deal with the ink.
