Episode 45 Putting Down Your Hoof Aired:
March 3 2012
At her house, Fluttershy calls her animal friends to their lunch but as usual, Angel is being her picky self, refusing to eat, unless it's what she points out in what looks to be a cookbook. Not wanting her to starve, she heads out to get the ingredients and so far so good until she attempts to get to the asparagus and isn't even acknowledged as being there. Rarity and Pinkie Pie watch her backing away and point out her problem.
She agrees to be more assertive but the last asparagus is taken and Rarity decides to coerce him to hand it over with success. Next up are tomatoes and apparently the price per tomato has changed so Pinkie Pie tries a little Loony Tunes strategy on her and just like that cartoon, the old switch-the-claim routine gets the price at its original value and the tomatoes Fluttershy wanted. Moving on to a cherries, where only one remains, Fluttershy screws up the tactics she was given and ends up making the recipe without the cherry.

Back home, with a little blab of the mouth from Fluttershy, Angel spots the missing cherry and kicks it out the window, leaving Fluttershy to plow into her mailbox as she realizes she IS a push-over. As luck would have it, a letter about a being named Iron Will is hosting a seminar to kick ponies out of their doormat habit that day. Her attempt to find a spot in the crowd is denied and she ends up in back as Iron Will himself appears. IW states his terms and volunteers Fluttershy to come up on stage. A goat blocks her path and she's instructed on how to deal with it and is given a good enough follow-up from Fluttershy. (Bad advice if you ask me because that's more than being assertive, that's being rude.)
The next day, Fluttershy is ready to take on the day and encounters the elderly pony that is again overwatering her flowers and gets splashed himself after Fluttershy steps on the hose. Excited, she heads off, only to be blocked by Bon Bon and (Daisy?)'s carts and the duo refuse to move until (at least) after the joke is told. Since they still won't move after her 2nd request, she kicks both carts, causing the contents to spill out onto the ground and they finally get going, not at all happy about the ordeal. At Sugarcube Corner, as Fluttershy enters, another pony cuts in front and her actions cause the entire line to move behind her in fear.
Up at the counter, Pinkie Pie and Rarity compliment on Fluttershy's new attitude before Pinkie Pie gets a dose of her own punch. Back outside, Fluttershy hails a taxi and catapults the former occupant out before heading off. Now Rarity and Pinkie Pie agree that perhaps their plan wasn't a good idea after all. The next  day, Fluttershy heads out to find the wrong mail in her mailbox and literally takes it out on the mailpony by putting him where the mail goes and he's sent off like a package. Shortly after, another pony wants directions and both PP and Rarity arrive in time to watch Fluttershy unleash her fury upon him.
Their protests only anger Fluttershy more (even though they're completely right) and their feelings are pushed past the breaking point and they dart off crying. She furiously insists IW is a minotaur before putting her hoof down on the puddle of water and sees exactly what she's become. Days pass and she boards up her windows, refusing to come out, even as Rarity and Pinkie Pie arrive (hard to believe they'd come back after all she said to them. I don't think I'd return so quickly if I were insulted like that).
Rarity and PP try to convince Fluttershy that it's not her fault and IW himself comes for his payment and their attempts to stall are in vain.Fluttershy comes out, denying any payment to IW, stunning all nearby animals, especially when she reminds IW of his own terms and of a new catchphrase that he ponders while leaving. The trio hug, having glad to have their old Fluttershy back. Later, while feeding her animals, she recites her letter to Celestia, even getting Angel to eat her food.
