Episode 44 A Friend in Deed Aired:
February 18 2012
In what we find out is the Baby Cakes' room, Pinkie Pie suits up, then begins doing exercises (either for the babies' entertainment or perhaps her own benefit, though it's hard to tell). The cake twins disapprove of Pinkie Pie's antics (can't blame them because they aren't exactly pretty to watch) but once Pinkie Pie does some unintentional acrobatics courtesy of a ceiling fan and some jacks on the floor, they're happy.
One of the cows from "Applebuck Season" walks up to the Sugarcube Corner entrance and Pinkie Pie figures she wants cookies for her milk and heads off.  Along the way, she meets plenty of friends including the now-named Mr Waddles (forgotten where he first appeared but I've read that he HAS appeared before) and Matilda, a donkey. How does Pinkie Pie remember so much about her friends? They're her friends and she breaks into my favorite Pinkie Pie song (the one that was leaked a while back). When it's ended, she encounters a character with the exact opposite of her song's intention and all she gets is his name, Cranky Doodle Donkey.
She goes through her checklist and finds she hasn't become friends with and is now determined to make him friends with her (not exactly her best idea but she's done a similar stunt before with Applejack in "The Last Roundup"). Not surprisingly, her attempts are failing and she digs through his wagon until ordered otherwise and brings her own Welcome Wagon. CDD agrees to see what the welcome is and due to a mix-up, gets covered in Pinkie Pie's cake instead of confetti. The result knocks off his toupee, which lands in front of Pinkie Pie's tail and she treats it as a spider, repeatedly stomping on it.
Instead of realizing it IS his wig, he only makes the situation worse by humiliating him in front of everyone nearby. Needless to say, she shoves him in to get a spa treatment, which appears to make him feel better but not noticeably facial-wise.  Afterwards, she hands him a gift and inside is a new wig (which people have been saying reminds them of Steven Magnet's (the serpent from S1E2 whose name came from YouTube's poor audio captioning). It's a start but no smile yet so when CDD is back home, finally unloading his stuff, she asks him about his stuff, including about a picture album but her hoof steps on a loose floorboard that catapults a nearby lantern into the air and on top of the book, setting it ablaze.
The inferno is put out and CDD boots her out of his house, telling her they'll never be friends. Hurt, Pinkie Pie heads to Twilight's house and explains. Twilight and Rainbow Dash mention that she'll just have to accept CDD not being friends but PP agrees to accept only after the apology is accepted. (Twilight's head desk reaction is totally me, given that PP totally didn't get a word out of what was said.) Returning once again to CDD, she follows him all over Ponyville and back to his house where he finally wins her over as PP has brought Matilda, CDD's special friend from years ago at the Grand Galloping Gala.
Everything becomes clear to the trio as CDD explains he never got the note (which was on the other side of the door he opened). At last, CDD smiles and is willing to become Pinkie Pie's friend, accepting the apology. Like many cartoons before this one, Pinkie Pie blasts off with excitement and goes through a list of what they'll do next but CDD tells them they just want to be alone for a bit. As an instrumental reprise of her Smile song begins, she recites her letter to Celestia before getting a final reminder of the donkeys' privacy request.
