Episode 43 Hearts and Hooves Day Aired:
February 11 2012
Inside their clubhouse, the Cutie Mark Crusaders are working on an arts and crafts project that we discover is a giant heart card thing for Ms Cheerilee's Hearts and Hooves Day contest but they're going to need a way to carry it. (Hmm, at 0:59 into the episode, I just happened to notice that Applejack's rear hooves are bent in a way I'm not sure they were capable of and suspect it's a duplicate of the front hoof.)
At school, Ms Cheerilee remarks on the craft's largeness, which becomes exceptionally evident as the CMCs attempt to explain. They're shocked to learn that Cheerilee has no very special somepony as she explains that she has plenty of friends that care about her. While the others play Pin the Heart on the Pony, the CMCs head off to try and get Ms Cheerilee a special somepony.
Outside, they look around for whomever would be right for their teacher when they break into song, with a tiny help from Big Macintosh as he works with barrels of hay. At last, they  have the one they feel is right for Ms Cheerilee by the song's conclusion.

A little later, they get set up under a gazebo and finish just as the "mates" are arriving. Apparently they had come up with reasons to bring them over but had put both excuses to further shame by rendering them null and void themselves. They hide behind some bushes while Ms Cheerilee and Big Macintosh have a rather uneventful and awkward conversation. Their near kiss turns out to be Ms Cheerilee pointing out an object between Big Mac's teeth and the two split up.
By chance, as they're walking though town, they run into Twilight, whom is reading a book that tells of Hearts and Hooves Day and allows them to borrow it. Excited, the CMCs dart off with it before Twilight can show them another book (that looks to be the Elements of Harmony one).Once inside their clubhouse again, they gather the ingredients for their potion and bring two glasses' worth to their picnic spot right before their "mates" arrive once more. Ms Cheerilee mentions her conclusion behind why they're in the awkward positions before they have a good laugh (first time for hearing either of them laugh) and play along with the gag by drinking the punch.
The potion works and the two are deeply in love but when the two start saying bizarre love phrases, the mood between the CMCs changes dramatically as they realize they may have given them too much punch. (Surprised Scootaloo doesn't react like she does here earlier, considering she went "ewww" over hugging in "The Cutie Mark Chronicles")The trio head back to their clubhouse to troubleshoot and discover that they gave their "mates" a love poison and the book tells of consequences from when the poison was first made. Apple Bloom explains the consequences of their mates' love before Sweetie-Belle reveals the antidote's instructions.
At Sugarcube Corner, Ms Cake isn't entirely thrilled with how long her customers' love has been going from within her bakery and figures marriage is next, which gives the CMCs an idea that only Sweetie-Belle understands. They convince their "mates" of their tasks and now just have to keep them apart. With just 15 minutes left, Big Mac is hopping about Pepe Le Pew style and not even a house dragging behind slows him down.

Only a minute left but with Big Mac in a hole, his cries are heard from inside Rarity's Boutique and Ms Cheerilee barges herself free and darts towards him, plowing past the CMCs as they try to prevent her entrance into the hole. The clock chimes 6:00, exactly one hour after their escapade began. To their relief, Ms Cheerilee and Big Mac are normal and explain everything to them, including their lesson learned.
Big Mac and Cheerilee agree on the trios' punishment is doing Big Mac's chores (for the day it seems but they don't mention a length of time). The chores are complete just as for the third time, Ms Cheerilee and Big Mac arrive to tell of a picnic under the gazebo, adding insult to injury by pretending to still be in love with each other.
