Episode 33	May the Best Pet Win	Aired: November 19 2011
Up in the skies, Rainbow Dash is having a blast zooming around until Owl Wishes appears and basically challenges RD to a race. Part way through, OW's transformations give RD enough of a scare such that she wakes up to what we find out is a nightmare, to find all the animals  normal and she herself breathes a sigh of relief from up in the tree she was napping in. Down below, the rest of the gang walk over to their pets before Rarity apologizes for any noise the animals make but Opal isn't in the least bit sorry. RD had no idea there was a Pony Pet Playdate in the Park every week and the others were going to tell her except that RD doesn't have a pet. RD has no hard feelings and the others go back to playing with their pets and RD herself goes back into the tree she'd been sleeping in but can't get back to sleep so she basically goes down to hint at getting a pet, leaving Fluttershy more than overjoyed to help out in the first song of Season 2 accompanied by RD. Towards the end of the song, RD concludes that the only way to decide is to host a competition with all the animals, pitting them against her in a race. Fluttershy manages to get a tortoise included. With the competition underway, each animal minus the tortoise, proves they can win at one of the competitions' areas. Just before the last competition, RD orders the tortoise home but the tortoise stays put (besides, based on its speed from the previous events, it wouldn't be going far anytime soon). For the last competition, the remaining four animals are put in a race against RD herself through Ghastly Gorge. Despite it's earlier setback in the "wind tunnel", the bat proves itself in the thorn bush and of course the tortoise lags way behind. RD's overconfidence and boasting leave her to back straight into the cliff and trigger a rockslide that leaves her pinned by a rock while most of the others dart ahead. Her calls for help are answered but from an unlikely source, the tortoise, whom frees RD from the rock. At the finish line, the cheers turn to disappointment with the absence of RD but she's spotted on top of the tortoise. As a helping hoof, the gang brings the finish line to the tortoise and RD chooses said tortoise because of what she herself said earlier. The falcon shakes (er feathers?) with the tortoise before sadly walking off. RD recites her letter to Celestia while the tortoise teases Opal. Fluttershy reminds RD about another thing RD said earlier so on the next Pony Pet Playdate that she and the others are off to, she equips the tortoise with helicopter blades.
