My Little Pony: Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks Part 2 Summary

The group watches in amazement as Twilight's invented portal crackles to life before the duo say their goodbyes and head into the portal. Just when Rainbow Dash is feeling Twilight isn't coming back, she comes out through the other end of the portal and the others rush over with delight once Sunset Shimmer gets Twilight back up. However, she cuts the celebration short by mentioning the unfortunate news regarding The Dazzlings. Inside a restaurant, the group attempt to get caught up on each others' news and Twilight figures that the strange occurrences involving the band members when they play is due to remnant magic left over. With everyone ready to take on The Dazzlings, Pinkie Pie brings up a party that night for everyone being in the musical showcase. At the party, everyone remains in a suspicious mood as Sunset Shimmer is there but Flash and Twilight literally run into each other again but their happy moment doesn't last long as a little crafty attention getting draws her to the threat that just arrived. Adagio is pleased with how things are going since the they stirred things up in the cafeteria but Sonata is caught on the fruit punch (and could use some more physical punch if you get my drift). Twilight is not about to let the Battle of the Bands take shape and joins hands with her friends in an attempt to summon the column of light and take the trio down. However, all she gets is a confused crowd (though that's better than them fighting). Adagio finds the group to be cocky considering how much they want to win (speak for yourself as it was your idea for the event to take place and none of you seem at all worried, though Sonata is the exception) but the others have their say on who is the better band and stir up more negative energy that the trio absorb. The Dazzlings have found magic or rather it found them and realize that the Mane Six are special due to their lack of being in the brawl. Outside, Twilight struggles to find out why nothing happened but Sunset Shimmer figures a spell of the same nature as The Dazzlings' magic is what it takes to defeat them so Twilight decides to write a counterspell and is welcomed into their band as their new lead singer. All they need to do is play during the first round but Twilight doesn't know any musical counterspells. Twilight decides to head inside to sleep in the library but Pinkie Pie drags the group to her house for a slumber party. While the others have fun, Twilight tries desperately to get the counterspell written without success. The arrival of the pizza breaks everyone's train of thought and they race downstairs. That night, Twilight decides to sneak out and just manages to step over her snoozing friends and into the kitchen. Try as she might, she's not having any better luck and Sunset Shimmer appears and sees the abundance of whipped cream in the fridge. The last thing either one wants to do is let everyone down but the arrival of Maud into the kitchen is enough to scare Sunset Shimmer (though that begs the question of how long she's been in the house or even in the world). Maud explains that Boulder was hungry and "feeds" it some cereal (or chips or something) before walking away and it's still hard to believe that Maud is related to Pinkie Pie. The late hour reminds Sunset Shimmer of the sleep she needs and only stops for what turns out to be an unimportant reply from Twilight. She has to do this and the next day, she tries but isn't very good. Twilight insists it'll be fine but instead of trying again, Rarity brings out her multiple outfits (including a Daft Punk reference) that Applejack does not approve of as they don't have the time. Twilight gets caught up in the what ifs so Applejack decides they'll just buy time. At the event, Principal Celestia makes a speech that includes congratulating The Dazzlings for encouraging (rather brainwashing) them to include the Battle of the Bands. Adagio feels that everyone will be helping to push The Rainbooms in the wrong direction. The competition takes place as Snips and Snails perform a rap song (to Sonata's approval) that ends with them dropping the microphones and hurting everyone's ears. The Rainbooms are up next and Rarity comes in late, wearing another over the top fashion. They have to be good but not good enough for The Dazzlings to see their magic at work. As they play (the rather catchy) Shake Your Tail song, a few others begin an act to sabotage them. The song ends with everyone not really in the singing mood and end up starting an argument. Sunset Shimmer figures that they were better than the others and will go through anyway but the counterspell must be ready and while the counterspell is created, Sunset Shimmer keeps an eye on the event where Derpy's band is now performing. Just outside, The Dazzlings appear and Sunset Shimmer lets them know they aren't going to succeed but they aren't deterred and figure that the band wouldn't have an audience if Sunset Shimmer had been a part. If nothing else, they won't remember Sunset Shimmer when The Dazzlings are done.
