Episode 31 | The Magic Coins (Part 1) | Aired: October 27, 1986 |
Megan and a few others get ready for a picnic but
Danny isn't as thrilled about the spot. A butterfly interrupts the
conversation and Danny ends up landing in a bed of flowers to the thrill
of the others. At least Danny didn't land in the water but the sea
ponies chime in to show how fun water can be. One of them dives
underwater and finds a treasure chest. She calls the other sea ponies
and the bring the chest to shore. They open it to find unusual
gold coins and Galaxy figures there's more to them than they appear. Gusty just wants to play and forces the chest shut. They find a good spotand use a row of trees for the net but don't have a ball. Fizzy uses her magic to make a bubble ball from the water (and it holds much better than one would think). Danny scores his team a point but Megan finds Lickety Split isn't playing along and looking sad. Lickety Split wants to eat and has to force herself not to eat the apples Megan puts out. As the volleyball game continues, the bubbe ball gets out of bounds and Sweet Stuff goes to retrieve it. However, she trips over a branch and skids into the treasure chest, knocking it over and spilling the coins. Sweet Stuff agrees to pick up the coins but Megan says to finish the game first. Sweet Stuff gets the bubble ball back into play but it lands on Gusty's horn and pops. It's no trouble to Fizzy as she agrees to make another bubble. Without realizing it, she steps on a coin and gets her wish granted to make a bigger, stronger bubble. Furthermore, everyone else gets to see her make enough bubbles for everyone. Molly gets inside one and it's fun and games for her until Megan notes she's too high up and in danger of having the bubble popped. Wind Whistler rumages into the picnic basket for salt, explaining its corrosive properties before she and Megan take to the skies. They get Molly into position over the river and apply the salt. The bubble pops and Molly ends up in the river before the sea ponies help her to shore. Lickety Split is only thinking aobut food and inadvertently uses a coin to make more food than they had before. It's enough for Wind Whistler to conclude that the coins are making the unusual events. Furthermore, Megan inspects a coin and notices the symbol indicates the exact wish that is granted. A storm moves in and ruins their picnic but while they race for shelter, Lickety Split activates a coin to make it never rain again. The storm clears up, leaving Galaxy and Megan suspicious as to what's going on but the plants give the first indication by wilting away. Time passes and rivers dry up, as does Posey's garden. It's so disappointing to Posey that she sings for a rainy day to cure the plants and avoid the sun for a little while. They're still in the drought even when it's over but Lickety Split admits to making the wish that gave them the drought. They head into Paradise Estate but the chest is empty so Megan asks Heart Throb and learns that Heart Throb did use a coin to help Sweet Stuff with her makeup. However, Sweet Stuff is cowering behind the couch and reveals her new clown-like apperance but isn't thrilled about it. Wind Whistler realizes there's quite a problem with the coins so the group go to see Magic Star, whom assures they're in her good luck collection for safe keeping. Magic Star gets the three she kept safe but none of the symbols are clear to Megan at all. The try using them to get rain to no avail so Megan decides they should see Mr. Moochick about it. Along the way, hear the song of the sea ponies but find they're not a healthy as they sound (and we get a different closing theme with different clips mixed with the old clips). |
