Episode 126 | The Saddle Row Review | Aired: May 21 2016 |
The ponies are racing to get to the boutique in hopes
of stopping Rarity from reading an article that could be negative about
the boutique's opening day. Twilight thinks they're overreacting but
Rarity greets them with a misleading facial expression before letting
them in so they can read the article together. Try as they might, Rarity
wants none of them to spoil it for her, even if it's for her own good.
Rarity decides to read it to them and it starts out positively enough.
Rarity skips down a bit to where the article mentions the interview,
where each pony mentions how things went but only Applejack is direct
about what happened. With that, we're taken to the hours before opening day where Applejack doesn't see her beloved hat store in the lineup and Rarity figures it wasn't good enough to be one of the stores. They arrive at the boutique but find it's not as dazzling as Rarity's merchandise with much to do to get it even remotely looking ready that night. Two ponies arrive and Rarity's next statement explains it's landlord Mr. Stripes, whom is pushy everywhere he goes and shows every ounce of it when talking to Rarity, eventually persuading her to hire his daughter. While the group cleans up, Rarity calls Fluttershy to the stockroom to deal with a racooon family lounging in boxes due to being kicked out of their previous eating facity. Worse still, loud music from the floor above prompts Rarity to investigate and perhaps resolve it. As Pinkie and Rarity discover, it's a party room but the manager denies Rarity access to the dance floor, even when Rarity tries to persuade him, and the earpugs prevent her pleas from being heard. Down below, Rainbow Dash wishes they were having just as much fun but Twilight makes an unusual dance remix to sweep the floor but it's anything but catchy. Regardless, the rest of the Mane Six join in and DJPON3 is the one able to create the music that is distracting them. Of course, Rarity finds they still have issues where they are as Mr. Stripe's daughter put in an antique horn above the door, leaving it open continuously and Rarity unwilling to have it stay. Her clothing from Ponyville finally arrives but it's a disorganized mess and Coco Pommel is too sick to work with her that night. Stress is mounting and despite Twilight's assurance in the interview, Rarity is not handling it well. The ponies agree to follow Rarity's desire of perfection the way she sees it using their own expertise. It takes much of the pressure off once Rainbow Dash agrees to hire ponies to help and the group come together for a hug before setting off with ther task. Pinkie Pie ends up conflicted as she wants the party to continue and at the same time come to an end. Luckily for her, the good and bad Rarity spirits are here to help, or at least try to. Fortunately, Pinkie has brought along a new music record and brings it to DJPON3, whom scans it and decides to play it anyway, leaving the dancers unhappy. Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash has brought three possible candidates and now needs a way to determine which of them to hire. To start, she quizzes them on a sample fabric in spite of having no knowledge at all on the subject but it's an easy answer for the candidate closest to her. Meanwhile, Applejack contends with Mr. Stripe's daughter, revealed as Plaid Stripes, whom suggests clothing made from spoons (which I'll agree sounds like a disaster in the making). If it were up to Applejack she'd accept the idea and open up a store but it's not so she declines the idea, bringing Plaid Stripes on the brink of crying. Elsewhere, Twilight has finished organizing but isn't sure color is what Rarity would've wanted the clothes organized by so she starts over. Fluttershy gets the raccoon family's attention and tearfully breaks the news based on what she thinks Rarity would want but this leaves the raccoons angry and ready to attack. The group end up converging with their mounting problems but with Rarity entering the room very shortly, Twilight takes drastic measures and blocks the door with a chair. Not letting it get to her, Rarity decides to make use of the time by continuing to add to her window display. It's unclear to Twilight how this disaster transpired until the rest admit to doing things as Rarity would want so Twilight suggests doing it as they themselves would. With that, the group splits off to make amends. That night, Rarity's window display is ready and she's ready to leave and prepares to charge the door but Twilight lets her out first. Rarity is totally surprised by what she sees as Twilight was the one to put everything in place. It's exactly what Rarity wanted and hugs Twilight as a thanks. With the moment of truth basically seconds away, Rarity heads out and opens the door, finding a more more appealing bell above it and a long line of excited ponies waiting to come in. The group is let in but it's a bigger crowd than Rarity was prepared for. Luckily, Rainbow Dash has come through by hiring all three of the candidates before a new music fills the air thanks to DJPON3 bringing the dance club down to them with less obnoxious music to boot. Even the raccoons get in on the fun by being waitresses (and waiters I suppose, though you only see one of them as such). As the ponies reveal, things turned out much better than they thought, including the spoon clothing as one pony was then able to try the drink that caught his eye. The drink goes over well with him and everyone is enjoying everything the boutique has to offer. Rarity finishes reading the article but doesn't understand why they didn't tell her about their problems. The group explain that they figured Rarity had enough to worry about but either way, Rarity can always count on them and Plaid Stripes takes another spoonful of soup before smiling to the journalist. |
