Episode 111 Hearthbreakers Aired:
October 24 2015
As snow falls outside, Twilight and Spike decorate for Hearth's Warming Eve while Pinkie Pie plays Santa by sliding down the chimney and gets a few chuckles  in return. Applejack arrives and Twilight offers to let her help but Applejack and Pinkie Pie are spending HWE together and Pinkie Pie is more than thrilled before their train signals their time to leave. As with their tradition, Twilight explains that Spike  is allowed to open gifts the night before Hearth's Warming.
It's not how Applejack or Pinkie do it but Twilight is willing to accept that and the duo leave. Spike opens his first gift and gets something (Twilight) always wanted, a book. On board the train, the conductor is serving treats and AB gets a mouthful before getting a lecture on what the holiday is really about. AJ and PP have some fun copying each other before they arrive. AJ has doubts the families will get along but PP does the math and finds 19 friendships on the way.
Maud is the first to arrive and to note AJ went sledding the previous day due to the remains of mountain rock on her hoof. It's enough to impress Granny Smith before the group set off to the rock farm with Maud. When the Apple family and rock family meet, things are more awkward than smooth. PP ignores Limestone's orders to not touch the boulder to announce that everyone can get settled in before dinner. The apple family is excited until they see the rocky soup prepared for them.

The awkward moments continue as Applejack does her best to devour the soup but the rock proves literally harder to swallow. With dinner complete, the group moves outside for their rocky doll sculptures, which don't go over so well with Applejack and the others. Pinkie feels Applejack will do better in the flag finding mission and (partially) explains how it works until the event gets underway. Even then, it takes AJ a bit longer to understand that the game is about as fun as the dinner and the family themselves. No one seems to be having better luck until Pinkie Pie finds it and now hides the gifts, leaving AJ further confused.
Furthermore, most years end up with no one getting any gifts (though since the holiday isn't really about gifts, why have them at all?) and AJ feels more worried than ever once nightfall comes and they head to bed. Regardless, AB and Big Mac are aware that what they do as a family differs from what Pinkie Pie does as a family and AJ just wants to improve Pinkie's family tradition. The next morning, Pinkie Pie can't contain her excitement and lets everyone know it.
When they step outside, they see what AJ had done and are not thrilled about it. Worse still, the flagpole is on a faultline, causing an earthquake that sends the boulder off the cliff and into the valley below. The apple family departs, wanting no more trouble while Limestone rants on the damage that's been done but Pinkie feels it's her fault as well as Applejack's. Meanwhiile, PP and AJ have found a place to deal with their troubles but find each other and chat about how they've felt before Applejack departs on the train home.
On board, Granny Smith explains the story behind the giant boulder and AJ realizes how important Pinkie's family tradition is, not to mention the gift to her stached above her and realizes that Pinkie Pie was the only one that could've done it. She gets the train stopped and they make their way back to the rock farm to help set things right. Things are restored and each family tradition is included before Maud recites her own rocky Hearth's Warming carols.
