Episode 39 Baby Cakes Aired:
January 14 2012
At the hospital, the group gawks at all the baby ponies but are shocked to see that there are two ponies joining the Cake family. Pinkie Pie cannot contain her excitement and finds it appropriate to try and wish the newborns a happy birthday but Nurse Redheart disapproves of all of her attempts, eventually booting her out. Applejack can't figure out why Pound Cake is a pegasus and Pumpkin cake is a unicorn so Mr. Cake explains, hoping they understand. Pinkie Pie again steps inside, this time with a cake but only ends up wearing part of it on her face from a disapproving Nurse Redheart. (Apparently) a month later at Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie Pie gives them a song before playing peek-a-boo with the tykes. Mrs. Cake checks on them, clearly able to pick up the scent of Pound Cake's dirty diaper but Mr Cake completes the job instead.
Mrs. Cake gives the toddlers their bottles and Pinkie Pie patiently waits for them to finish and is then shown the short process of burping them. With the two ready for playing, they happily follow Pinkie Pie but encounter a brief light scolding by Mr. and Mrs. Cake respectively. Pinkie Pie's no chewing exception reminds Mr. and Mrs. Cake about the food they're supposed to deliver and scurry off to find a babysitter despite the most obvious one following their every step. Unfortunately, everyone they talk to is busy (though Rarity and Rainbow Dash are guilty of having no legit excuse) so they're left with no choice and give Pinkie Pie the job.
After some last-minute scurrying around, Pinkie Pie forces them out the door. No sooner has she closed the door that the babies begin crying and none of her ideas work (no surprise on standup comedy because the tykes are much to young to understand). However, once her pig act ends up with her covered in flour, the tykes are happily giggling away. Reviewing the massive list, snack time is next but isn't as easy as she thinks because neither Pound Cake nor Pumpkin Cake end up eating their food and Pinkie Pie brings joy to their little hearts with another sack of flour dumped on her, having a good sense of how this'll end up. Bath time arrives and once she finally gets them in the tub, she obtains a few seconds of peace between her ideas with the last of which being covered in now wet flour from being blasted by water from the tykes' unintentional actions.
A little later, the all-to-familiar dirty diaper smell fills the room and despite her efforts, Pinkie Pie ends up wearing both diapers. The doorbell rings and it's Twilight, whom finished her task and came to see if Pinkie Pie needed any help (how does she not notice the diapers on Pinkie Pie's head and body?). Pinkie Pie shoves Twilight out the door, insisting that she can do it on her own.  She finds them in their room and puts them to sleep but no sooner has she turned around, they're gone. One by one, she finds them but Pound Cake's flying antics are keeping Pinkie Pie at bay long enough for Pumpkin Cake to use her magic and bring some toys to her.
While trying to put Pound Cake in the crib, Pinkie Pie gets taken for a ride full circle and when none of her containment ideas work, the tykes and Pinkie Pie essentially switch personalities with Pinkie Pie now crying and the tykes being the ones to cheer her up. At last, she gets the tykes asleep and recites her letter to Celestia before Mr. and Mrs. Cake come home to a spotless Sugarcube Corner. The trio move upstairs where Pinkie Pie at first declines a request to be the tykes' babysitter but reconsiders after the tykes show their love for her.
