Episode 36 | Secret of My Excess | Aired: December 10 2011 |
At Twilight's house, Twilight wants no
distractions for she's made today Book Reorganization Day but Spike
interrupts her concentration, explaining that his laughter is caused by
his birthday present to himself: a fire ruby and he's finally gotten it
right. Twilight isn't pleased about Spike's next remark before Rarity
enters, admiring the jewel before being reminded of what she really came
for. Spike explains that the jewel is his birthday dinner (so you waited
all this time to get this jewel sounding the way you wanted and now
you're going to eat it? What was the point of "tuning" it?). Rarity
can't keep her eyes off it so Spike decides to let Rarity have it and
she happily trots off but not before kissing him (Either that's not
lipstick or it's a very odd color for lipstick).
Spike vows never to wash the kissed cheek again but after the preparations for Spike's party are about complete, Twilight wants removal of the kiss mark. With Spike now distracted because the guests arrived, Twilight manages to get the mark off Spike's cheek. They hand him gifts (though I don't know what Spike is to do with a barbell) but Twilight backs away after Spike explains that his only gift is usually a book from her. Rarity has a 2nd gift for all her friends after being inspired by Spike's generosity. Pinkie Pie mentions of the special surprise for Spike at Sugarcube Corner and Spike darts off before Pinkie Pie adds that the party doesn't need to end right then. At SC, Mrs. Cake hands Spike a new sapphire-flavored cupcake and Spike heads off before bumping into Cheerilee. He devours the cupcake, then helps her with her groceries and is given a hat as a gift (a bit odd to have that in there but I've seen flowers and other items in a grocery store). This constant gift receiving gives Spike a more sinister thought and goes around hinting that it's his birthday and gets a few more gifts. The next morning, Twilight awakens to a pile of stuff underneath a now larger Spike, whom now has a lust for having stuff so she tries to find the cure and Zecora finally has the answer, explaining that it'll only get worse unless stopped soon. Before she can tell Spike about this or even act upon his condition, Spike is gone and when she finds him, she lures him away from Scootaloo's scooter and into her own house, trapping him in another room before Spike breaks out. She tells Applejack about it, whom doesn't think it's serious until Spike thunders by and they get themselves tied up. Their cries for help are answered by Rainbow Dash, whom has a good laugh about their predicament before Fluttershy's scream is heard. Fluttershy explains her situation before Pinkie Pie screams for help from Sugarcube Corner. Inside SC, Pinkie Pie is apparently assaulting Spike with cake (You're doing a REALLY good job, Pinkie Pie *sarcasm*). Spike grows once more and exits out the top of the building. In a parody of King Kong, Spike heads up the mountain with Rarity in his tail's grasp as the Wonderbolts feebly try to corral the beast. Rarity gets Spike's attention but it's the jewel that literally changes Spike to normal and the two of them plummet downward before being saved by Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy's makeshift net. The watertower's top falls off and the Wonderbolts dart off unscathed. After another kiss from Rarity, which he frames, he writes what he's learned to Celestia as the others receive their gifts from Rarity herself. |
