Episode 24 Owl's Well That Ends Well Aired:
April 22 2011
At her house, Twilight and Spike are preparing for their trip to see a special meteor shower that occurs every 100 years tonight. After Twilight says Spike is her number 1 assistant, Spike decides to act like he didn't hear the first two times  it gets said until Twilight figures it out herself. Before she forgets, she asks Spike to go get the special almanac guide. He retrieves the book from the top shelf and clears the dust narrowly causing him to sneeze until he opens the book and the resulting sneeze leaves very little left of the book so Spike dumps the burnt pieces out from the book and puts it back on the shelf. That night, on the way to the meteor shower, Spike tries to cover up the fact that the book has been basically destroyed by saying the book isn't needed. He sets up on the grass and Rainbow Dash takes an apple. After the first bite, she tells Twilight she wishes she had an assistant so Scootaloo takes up the job and proceeds to throw out RD's now finished apple. Everyone crowds around Spike and talks about how great he is.
Rarity was so impressed she made a bow especially for Spike and Spike is becoming a bit embarrassed but requests Twilight to say something in the same manner but she tells him enough is enough. Sweetie Belle announces that the meteor shower is starting and everyone gathers (with the CMCs on top). It isn't long before Spike feels tired. When the shower winds down, everyone digs into the food. Twilight requests Spike to get some punch for the group but when they see him sleeping, Pinkie Pie can't help but make a joke about it, giving everyone a good laugh. Back at home, Twilight puts Spike to bed then starts writing a letter or something when a noise stops her. When she checks outside, nothing is there so she tries to resume but the noise occurs again and now there's a mysterious flying shadow moving about.
Her letter flies out the window and figures this'd be a job for Spike but he's not awake. She looks and sees an owl with the scroll in its beak and when it starts to leave, Twilight invites it inside and manages to continue her writing. The next morning, Spike awakens to find that he's late for his morning chores and races downstairs hoping Twilight won't be mad but finds out that Owl Wishes (I don't know if I heard or spelled that right but that's what I'll be calling it until I discover otherwise) has done them instead. She leaves, suggesting Spike to introduce himself and when OW turns its head, Spike finds it creepy (it was funny to have him say this only seconds after I did when I watched the ep last night). Not realizing or understanding that he's talking to an owl and hoo'ing is what owls do, he continues trying to get OW to understand and ends up slamming the back of his head into the door then leaving, convinced that OW is after his own job of being assistant. He reads in a tree while the others discuss OW, whom Twilight has brought outside with her and his mocking is heard so he acts as if he totally agrees, then heads back inside.

The discussion changes to what Spike's problem was and RD and Fluttershy think it's jealousy and the fact that he might lose his job as assistant but Twilight figures Spike knows that he'd never get replaced (if only you could've been walking inside as you said that, Twilight as you'd hear for yourself that you were wrong). Twilight heads inside just as Spike is finishing his plan to get revenge on OW, whom has already gotten the books Twilight asked for and leaving Spike on a pile of books that inevitably fall(and certainly would've fallen regardless of whether or not Spike stayed on the pile) leaving Spike fuming. Twilight's quill breaks so Spike goes to find one but he leaves, not hearing Twilight's call to return him back Twilight. Spike's trip takes him to several places but none of them have a quill. He manages to get one from a chicken but when he returns home, beaten up from his attempt at getting a chicken feather, he discovers that Twilight had been calling him back to tell him that OW let her use one of his feathers as a quill.
Spike is now so fuming that he overcooks the chicken feather held in his hand. He starts on a bit of a rant then falls asleep on the stairs. He awakens to a loud thud from the book Twilight had been told was missing and when he tries to explain, he hears how disappointed Twilight is in him. Nevertheless, Spike decides to get even and gets an idea from a scurrying mouse. He arrives at Rarity's house and with Rarity and Opal gone, he sneaks in and takes  Opal's mouse toy, figuring that Twilight will jump to the conclusion that OW is behind the carnage.
He gets the mess ready but as he lays out the feathers he encounters a truly disappointed Twilight, who can't believe not only that Spike thought such a lame idea would work but that he deliberately tried to set up OW. She leaves with OW innocently turning its head towards Spike, whom now thinks Twilight doesn't love him anymore and leaves. Outside, he asks the question one should never ask in cartoons and as with each time (that I've seen), he finds out the answer is yes so he finds a cave to take shelter.
When he sees the massive piles of gems, he happily says he doesn't want to go home if this is what running away is and snacks away until he's full and with the hiccups. Suddenly he feels hot air and figures it must be getting warm until he sees the source of the heat is from a dragon that wants to know why Spike is here eating his own gems. Spike tries to convince the dragon that they're related but when that doesn't work, he bolts and hides behind a rock, which is completely destroyed by the dragon's spiked tail. He finds himself backed up against the end of the cave with the dragon ready to essentially cook Spike but OW and Twilight come to his rescue by moving the dragon away and managing to escape, leaving the dragon breathing fire into the air in hatred.
When Twilight feels she and the others are far enough away, she asks Spike why he ran away and after he explains, she give her explanation as well and the two apologize. Back home, Spike is ready to write the letter when Twilight decides to let Spike write it himself but he falls asleep before he can finish.  When OW hoos this time, Twilight understands and happily giggles.
