Episode 19 A Dog and Pony Show Aired:
March 11 2011
At her house, Rarity is putting on the last jewel of an outfit when a pony named Sapphire Shores (converted from G3 days) enters, requesting an outfit for her show and Rarity quivers in fear that SS knows her name but agrees to show off her latest outfit, which SS loves and wants 5 more decorated in a different jewel. Rarity faints and, thinking it was her beauty that caused it, SS says she has that effect on ponies (it's probably the fact that Rarity is out of jewels and it's a ton of work to find more and make the dresses she is asked to make).

Rarity takes Spike outside to some rocky area to hunt for the jewels and finds some, scolding Spike when he tries to eat them (what he finds so appetizing about jewels I'll never know). Little by little, more jewels are found (and dug up with Spike's apparently multi-functional tail). For his patience, Rarity gives Spike a gem but Spike decides to treasure it instead of eat it. While they hunt for more, one creature peeks from behind the bushes and discovers that Rarity is who they (based on the one speaking indicates with "we'll have all the gems and more") are looking for. Rarity's "Gem Sense" goes off again but it's not a jewel, it's on the collar and is introduced as the Diamond Dog. DD tells Rarity that they hunt but with Rarity being a better hunter, they'll hunt her instead as two more of his friends pop up from the dirt and give chase.
Despite their valiant efforts, the dogs capture Rarity and take her down a hole, leaving spike temporarily stuck in a tree. We see him later with Twilight and friends as he gets a bag to breathe from after giving a garbled up message to them earlier. He gives them a better explanation but when they arrive to execute Applejack's easy plan, there are more holes than before. They try to get into one of the holes but each one is plugged up by a "mud geyser". A horrible thought enters the ponies' minds that shows Rarity constantly running into dirt inside her "jail cell" and begging to be saved. Applejack suggests they dig there way in but each attempt is thwarted by the DDs.
Another horrible thought enters the ponies' minds showing Rarity being tormented by the DDs. Back in reality, Spike gets an idea to use his jewel as a way to get in and has a vision of himself being some kind of super hero and getting a kiss from Rarity but Applejack snaps him out of it just as they get a bite on the fishing pole and it drags everybody down as they try to save Spike and the others respectively. They end up inside but there are many paths to choose from but using the gem-finding spell Rarity taught her, Twilight leads the way as Rarity is ordered to dig for gems but all she can do (or is willing to do) is literally scratch the surface so one of the DDs orders the guards to dig while the others equip Rarity with a new job of pulling the wagon. Rarity can't help but complain about the whole ordeal, even when she starts pulling the wagon and hunting for jewels.
LDD (Leader Diamond Dog, aka nickname I'm giving for the one we heard first) can't take all the whining and neither can DD2 (Diamond Dog 2,  my nickname for the little one of the group) but Rarity shows all three of them what whining is and they agree to do anything Rarity asks. LDD is first to realize that the whole thing is ridiculous and orders the "mule" to get moving but Rarity breaks into tears, driving them all crazy again. Meanwhile, Twilight feels she's getting close and right before they encounter Rarity's "jail cell", the guard dogs capture them so Applejack shows them how to essentially be a bull and throw them off.

Spike decides to be a real hero and breaks off a stalactite from above to use as a sword and recites a ponified version of a famous movie line. Twilight reluctantly agrees to play along and when they enter, they see Rarity chasing them and when they stop, the DDs beg to have Rarity be taken back with the jewels. They agree and outside, unbeknownst to her, Rarity recites the day's lesson. As Spike munches on a jewel, the others have a good laugh about Spike eating the jewels before they can be placed on Rarity's costumes.
