Episode 6 Boast Busters Aired:
November 19 2010
At her house, Twilight succeeds in giving Spike a mustache, her 25th trick on Spike's list. Spike decides to act out the encounter between him with his mustache and Rarity but Twilight says it's just temporary and removes it. A little later, the two of them discuss the possibility of other unicorns having as much or more magic than Twilight does when two other ponies appear knocking Spike over but I can't quite make out what Spike calls them so they'll be GP and OP (Green Pony and Orange Pony). They tell Twilight and Spike that there's a new unicorn at the town square and they all go.
At the town square, there is indeed a new unicorn and her name is Trixie (or however you spell her name) and she considers herself great and powerful, boasting that she's going to perform the greatest trick ever. Rarity remarks on how boastful she is and Spike adds that no pony can make magic as well as Twilight but when he spots Rarity, he runs off. Twilight questions if there's anything wrong with being talented and Applejack doesn't think so, unless they are boastful about it. Spike again states that Twilight is better but Twilight pushes him out of the crowd to have a quick talk, saying that she doesn't want to be a show off.
Rainbow Dash asks Trixie what makes her so great and she replies that no one but her can tackle the great Ursa Major (which is clearly named after the constellation shaped like a bear). Her story of how she took down the bear is enough to convince GP and OP but Spike isn't buying it, protesting that those two didn't see it (although how do you know know they didn't see it, Spike?). Trixie challenges Twilight to a showdown of magic just as Twilight herself is whispering that she cannot show her magic now.

AJ can't stand it any longer and agrees to take up the challenge instead. As impressive as her trick is, AJ literally feels the brunt of Trixie's "snake charm" trick and is tied up with an apple in her mouth, hopping away. RD takes up the challenge next with his own stunts but Trixie uses her magic to cause a tornado of RD's own rainbow that formed over her head after she finished her tricks and left her on the ground, feeling sick. (Technically though, that wasn't what RD did, that was more of a "screw up your trick" so Trixie didn't prove that she could do the trick better.)
Rarity tries as well, using the curtain to spice up her mane but ends up with green hair and she scurries off, passing by a pony with actually green hair and leaving that pony upset. Twilight is challenged but she runs off while Trixie gloats again. Later, Trixie brushes her mane while GP hands her a drink. GP and OP want to hear another story but Trixie says she's too tired and orders them to leave until morning. They end up meeting Spike, who asks how they can fall for her lies and they ask if Twilight can defeat Ursa Major.

Spike again asks if they were there and they admit they weren't so he refused to believe what Trixie says unless an Ursa Major comes. This gives GP and OP an idea (and a supposed Pinky and the Brain reference). Back at home, Spike pleads to Twilight to have her use her magic to show Trixie but is denied every attempt so he leaves. Meanwhile, GP and OP are in a forest when they enter a cave, unable to see so GP gets OP's horn to light up and they find the Ursa Major, who chases them out with Spike following as he sees why they're running.

GP an OP awaken Trixie, who runs at the sight of Ursa Major, who knocks down trees in his path. Trixie tries to show that she wasn't lying but her magic is no match for the giant bear. Spike runs home and gets Twilight to come out and see while other Ponyville'ers rush out to see what's going on. Trixie admits that she cannot defeat the bear while GP and OP admit that they brought Ursa in the first place. Twilight faces the bear and soothes its anger with music, then struggling very hard, takes the top of the water tower and exchanges water with stuff from the barn and guides the bear back into its cave.

Twilight hopes her friends don't hate her and they don't as they say her magic is part of who she is and Trixie is just a loud mouth. Is it possible to defeat an Ursa Major by yourself? Twilight says it was an Ursa Minor that was cranky from being woken up. Spike asks what an Ursa Major was like but Twilight says he doesn't want to know. GP and OP just wanted to see some magic, then say they deserve any punishment Twilight gives them, which is to clean up the mess for starters and they (include Spike) are all given a mustache. Back at home, Twilight writes a letter to Celestia about the very valuable lesson she learned, then asks Spike how it went with Rarity but Spike tells her that Rarity didn't go for it. Twilight says that the mustache has nothing to do with who he is but Spike ponders that maybe the mustache wasn't enough and gives Twilight instructions on how to improve it.
